The series of change orders for work on the George Washington Middle School covers $71,939 in eight increments. The individual orders include $3,000 for reinstalling radon vent piping, $2,533 for door hardware revisions, $18,269 for revisions required to a steel door School board approves $108,000 in change orders at the media center, $5,960 for removal and replacement of a portion of wall, $5,590 for installation of a plywood walkway around the mansard roof, $12,338 for a sanitary manhole and piping revisions to existing manholes and adding a new sanitary line, $21,382 to add a run of 600kcmil cable to each of the six conduits from the transformer to the electric board, and $2,867 for the in-fill of a shaft found in the existing building while creating the connecting corridor. The contractor is the Bennett Company of Passaic. (continued on page 10) The Ridgewood Board of Education has approved four stipends for three teachers who will teach voluntary courses to their peers. Anthony Albergate received a stipend of $450 to offer a teacher course in “Understanding Japanese Culture: A Book Discussion Group for Inquiring Minds,” at five seminars from March through June 12. Jill Marmo received two $450 subsidies for two courses in using the SMARTBoard effectively. The course, one of which will be for beginners and one for intermediatelevel users, will be open to teachers through the months Stipends will cover teacher enrichment of March, April, May, and June. Karen Rispoli received a stipend of $280 for iPad instruction for middle school teachers. Her course will be held through the month of March. The board also accepted two donations. The Ridgewood High School Ski Club donated supplemental pay for three chaperones for five Ski Club trips, totaling $4,185, and the Ridgewood Rotary Foundation donated $84 to pay Dick Bennett to drive students on a field trip excursion for a West Point Ethics & Leadership Conference.
