ommuting can be a job in itself, and the extra travel time can make it tough for commuters to handle basic errands, like picking up their dry cleaning orders. Commuter Cleaners is here to help. Conveniently located at 14 West Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood, Commuter Cleaners features unique hours: 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 to 4 on Saturdays. Owner Marwan Amaisse offers competitive pricing on top-quality cleaning services and friendly customer service. The concept for Commuter Cleaners grew out of convenience. Marwan explains: “When I was a junior in high school, my father changed the hours of his dry cleaning store. We had been open all day; then he changed the hours so I could operate the store after 4 p.m.” The new hours worked well for customers, many of whom were returning to the nearby train station between 6 and Marwan Amaisse 8 p.m. and running errands on their way home. Marwan brought the concept to Park Ridge, where he launched Commuter Cleaners. He later opened a second store in Pearl River, New York, and recently added his newest location in Ridgewood. He says his family has opened 12 locations since 1983 and has never closed one. Commuter Cleaners offers organic dry cleaning, which is odor-free and not harmful to the environment, Marwan explains. Cleaning is done off-site by Marwan’s brother, who operates his business in Garfield. Marwan notes that the family’s Garfield operation does work for many dry cleaning stores, some of which charge top dollar for the same quality service Commuter Cleaners offers for much less. Commuter Cleaners also offers alteration services and repairs. Call (201) 857-0200, e-mail commutercleaners@yahoo.com, or visit online at www.commuter-cleaners.com for additional information.
