He earned a bachelor’s degree from Providence College and a master’s degree in economics from Boston College. Before retiring in 1988, he was a tax accountant with Nynex Corporation in New York for 39 years. He was a parishioner of Saint Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock, a member of the Activities Club of Glen Rock, and a volunteer with The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood and Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his children Dorothy Van Decker, Catherine Sullivan, and William D. Greene, and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Jones) Greene. McElrath of Glen Rock died May 27. She was 78. She is survived by her husband Richard McElrath, her daughters Leslie of Cape May, Jennifer of Hilo, Hawaii, Josie of Long Island, New York, and Becky of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, her grandson James, and several sisters and a brother. Neigel of Ridgewood, formerly of Glen Rock, died June 7. She was 60. She was a graduate of Barnard College and New York University and worked at the New York State Insurance Fund until her retirement. She was a member of Christ Church in Ridgewood. She is survived by her brother Joseph E. Neigel, sister Joan A. LaRacuente, brother-in-law Harry LaRacuente, and nephew Nicholas LaRacuente. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph A. Rapenske of Glen Rock died June 8. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Alfred State College in Alfred, New York. Before retiring in 1988, he was employed at I.B.M. for 32 years. He worked William J. Greene for H&R Block from 1989 to 2012. He was a parishioner of Saint Catharine’s Church in Glen Rock and was a member of Hobbyists Unlimited. He is survived by his wife Blanche (Krause), his children Pamela Biggs, Robert M. Rapenske, Cynthia Rapenske, and Susan Garlow, six grandchildren, and his brothers Lincoln Rapenske and Harry Rapenske. He was predeceased by his grandson Justin Biggs, and his brother James. Arboretum offers foraging workshop Debbie and Steve Adams will present a workshop entitled, “Foraging and Artifacts Tour,” at the Thielke Arboretum, 460 Doremus Avenue in Glen Rock. The program will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 24. Explore a natural environment for food and tools, as our ancestors did. Join the Adams as they identify edibles such as mushrooms, roots, plants, and trees. Using anthropological and archaeological information, the Adams will demonstrate replicas of ancient tools and technologies used by primitive peoples. The fee for this workshop is $12; $10 for arboretum members, seniors, and students. Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing. The event will be held rain or shine.
