Advisory committee plans meeting The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee of Glen Rock will meet June 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the municipal building located at Harding Plaza. Arboretum offers foraging workshop Debbie and Steve Adams will present a workshop entitled, “Foraging and Artifacts Tour,” at the Thielke Arboretum, 460 Doremus Avenue in Glen Rock. The program will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 24. Explore a natural environment for food and tools, as our ancestors did. Join the Adams as they identify edibles such as mushrooms, roots, plants, and trees. Using anthropological and archaeological information, the Adams will demonstrate replicas of ancient tools and technologies used by primitive peoples. The fee for this workshop is $12; $10 for arboretum members, seniors, and students. Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing. The event will be held rain or shine. For details visit www.glenrockarboretum.org. Seniors plan trips The Glen Rock Senior Citizens Club will travel to Doolan’s Shore Club in Spring Lake for lunch and a show on June 12. Featured will be the music of Rosemary Clooney, Connie Francis, Roy Orbison, and John Denver. The bus will leave Wilde Park at 9:15 a.m. The cost for the day is

Parade Committee seeks volunteers The Glen Rock Parade Committee is seeking volunteers to help stuff envelopes with contest tickets to support the borough’s Fourth of July Parade. The mailing, slated to be sent to 4,500 households, may be completed at home. It takes approximately one hour to stuff 200 envelopes. Anyone interested in helping with the mailing or the parade, and those who would like to submit an entry to march or drive in the event, may e-mail glenrockparade@gmail. com. Municipal pool to open June 22 The Glen Rock Swimming Pool complex will open for the summer on June 22. The facility will remain open through Labor Day weekend. Glen Rock residents may purchase season badges in a number of categories. Family membership cards, which include all family members except for non-related care-givers, will be $380.
The rate for a care-giver is $175. Badges for children six to 11 years old are $70, and youngsters 12 to 17 are $80. The cost for senior citizens is $25. Non-resident guest fees are $10 for an adult, and $5 for a senior citizen 62 or over and for young people 17 or under. Memberships may be purchased at borough hall, 1 Harding Plaza, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Club seeks bridge players, plans party The Activities Club bridge group is seeking new players. The bridge group meets on Tuesdays, except during the third week when the general membership meets. All skill levels from beginner to expert are represented. Games are held at the Community Church of Glen Rock, 354 Rock Road, at 1:30 p.m. Retired and semi-retired men interested in joining the bridge group and the Activities Club should contact Howard Hanes at (201) 445-4603 or Charlie Flynn at (201) 652-2585.
