‘Iolanthe’ auditions announced The Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company, which is currently celebrating its 75th Anniversary, has announced auditions for “Iolanthe.” Auditions for principal roles and chorus will be held on Thursday, Aug. 9 and Monday, Aug. 13 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Community Church of Glen Rock, 354 Rock Road in Glen Rock. Performers should be prepared to sing a song from the show or a piece that best shows their vocal quality. Those who will not be singing a piece from “Iolanthe” are reminded to bring their music. An accompanist will be provided. Those who audition are asked to bring a head shot and resume. The production will be performed in November. Children ages seven through 13 will learn to perform magic and perfect their presentation and techniques. The program will be held at the magic shop located at 85 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, “hidden” behind the Midland Park Shopping Center. Vendors sought for holiday boutique The Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary is seeking vendors for its Fifth Annual Pre-holiday Brunch & Boutique Shopping Extravaganza set for Nov. 14. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Indian Trail Club, 830 Franklin Lake Road in Franklin Lakes. This brunch and boutique, which in the past has been attended by nearly 200 people, will help support the auxiliary’s $1.5 million pledge for expansion of The Valley Hospital Breast Surgery Program at the Luckow Pavilion, which will include a dedicated mammography suite and ultrasound suite; and to support Valley Home Care’s Butterflies Program, a palliative care and hospice program for children. The NJ Law Enforcement Torch Run recognized the Andiamo Benefit Motorcycle Run for its generous and continued support of the 22,000 special needs athletes of New Jersey. The NJ Law Enforcement Torch Run is a grass roots organization made up of law enforcement officers from across New Jersey that raise money and awareness for Special Olympics NJ. The Torch Run and the Andiamo Benefit Motorcycle Run have teamed up for the past several years. In addition to the monetary donation, the Andiamo Run gives the Torch Run a place to raise awareness of the world of Special Olympics NJ by setting up an information booth during the pre- and post-run festivities. Swim team sets ‘early bird’ tryouts Tryouts for the Ridgewood YMCA Breakers competitive swim team will begin with “early bird” tryouts on July 30 and Aug. 1 and 3 at the YMCA on Oak Street in Ridgewood. The Breakers Swim Team is for participants at all ability levels, and provides youths ages six and up the opportunity
