Brook cleanup
(continued from page 3) entire police operation was relocated to the Pease Memorial Library, located on some of the highest ground in Ridgewood, and remained there for six years. The new police headquarters is on the second floor of the five-floor Ridgewood Village Hall. After the council meeting, a resident who is also an engineer said the cleanup is well-intentioned but will not solve the entire problem. The citizen said the bridges along Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and Saddle River were configured to facilitate at least some flooding in Ridgewood and the area north of Ridgewood rather than inundate the communities farther south in more serious flooding. The actual problem, he said, could only be eliminated if the runoff from large expanses of private and public property were reduced by more cultivated surfaces and fewer impermeable surfaces.
