Ridgewood Water enacts restrictions Ridgewood Water Company has announced Stage II water restrictions are in effect. In addition to Ridgewood, the water company serves Glen Rock, Midland Park, and Wyckoff. During the Stage II watering policy, Ridgewood Water Company customers may not water their lawns on Monday. Residents whose homes have odd-numbered addresses may sprinkle their lawns with in-ground or portable sprinklers on odd-numbered days of the month. Residents whose homes have even-numbered addresses may use sprinklers on even-numbered days. The use of hand-held houses is permitted Tuesday through Saturday. Violators face a $50 fine for watering outside the permitted schedule. Annual Taste of Farm Day set Abma’s Farm in Wyckoff will hold its 10th Annual Taste of the Farm Day on Saturday, July 21. Attendees will learn what it means to be a locavore, visit and feed the farm animals in the petting zoo, take a tour of the hen house to see how the farmers collect eggs, and enjoy an old fashioned children’s craft in the greenhouses. The day’s activities will include hayrides, pony rides, crafts, and plenty of locally grown food. The Farm Day menu includes a pig roast, barbecued pulled pork, ribs, barbecued chicken, Wyckoff-fresh veggies, grilled corn, tomatoes, salads, potatoes, homemade lemonade, artisanal ice cream, and Abma’s famous cider doughnuts. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free, with a minimal fee for all food products. Abma’s Farm is located at 700 Lawlins Road in Wyckoff. Hermitage holds Revolutionary Social Day The Hermitage Museum in Ho-Ho-Kus will hold its first Revolutionary Social Day on Saturday, July 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will feature live period music performed by costumed living history musicians Ridley and Anne Enslow, live demonstrations by the North River Colonial Dancers, and a local historical re-enactment group, whose members will also be in period attire. After their presentation, the performers will provide period dance instruction to the adults and children. Revolutionary Social Day will also celebrate the museum’s recent acquisition of Theodosia Prevost’s original invitation to General George Washington to visit The Her-
Exhibit opens at Stable
The Architects League of Northern New Jersey recently held an opening reception for the 2012 Group Exhibit, which is currently on display at The Stable, 259 North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood. The exhibit will remain open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through July 27. The public is encouraged to view this collection of works in various media. One Box-One Soldier campaign held The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Waldwick is collecting supplies for its One Box-One Soldier program. In its effort to remind troops serving abroad they are not forgotten, the auxiliary is collecting items to be shipped overseas. Items needed include small individually wrapped hard candies, cookies, and crackers, peanut butter and jelly in
plastic bottles, drink powders, mouthwash, toothbrushes and paste, disposable razors and shaving cream (nonaerosol), magazines, and puzzle books. A complete list of suggested supplies may be found at Walgreens stores in Waldwick, Wyckoff, Ramsey, and Oakland. Donations may be dropped off at Walgreens, or at American Legion Post 57 located at 46 Franklin Turnpike in Waldwick after (continued on page 22)
