Local residents to receive Distinguished Citizens Award
The Ramapo College Foundation has announced the recipients of its 30thAnnual Distinguished Citizens Award. The honorees, who were chosen for their commitment to their community, are Kristine Denning, a 1990 graduate of Ramapo College who is a partner in the Hackensack law firm of Harwood Lloyd; Richard A. De Silva, owner of Liberty Subaru, MV-1, and Liberty Hyundai, and member of the Ramapo College Foundation’s Board of Governors; Kevin Lobo, group president, orthopaedics, at Stryker Corporation; and Thomas Shara, president and CEO of Lakeland Bancorp and Lakeland Bank, Oak Ridge, and member of the foundation’s board of governors. Denning is a partner in Harwood Lloyd’s insurance litigation department, with a concentration in fraud investigation and resulting litigation. She received significant training and experience concerning bad faith litigation, declaratory judgment actions, and fraud ring activity and actions

David Bole, Esq., who serves as borough attorney in Allendale and Ho-Ho-Kus, has been re-hired as Glen Rock’s zoning board of adjustment attorney. The appointment was announced at last week’s meeting of the Glen Rock Borough Council. Glen Rock Mayor John van Keuren and the council members approved Bole’s past performance and his appointment was a routine part of the business at a short council meeting following the annual reorganization meeting of the previous week. The council also introduced two salary ordinances for hearing and probable adoption at the next public meeting. The first ordinance stipulates a maximum salary of $111,367 for a police officer (new hires start at $33,484 while at the Law

The second salary ordinance introduced sets the hourly salaries of all road department workers at $20 an hour, with maximum salaries of $33.72 for a foreman, $35.62 for a mechanic, $34.27 for an assistant mechanic, $32.17 for a lead, and $31.85 for a laborer. In the sanitation department, drivers will receive a minimum of $20 and a maximum of $32.91 and loaders will receive a minimum of $19 and a maximum of $30.28. lor’s degree in psychology from Ramapo in 1990, graduating with honors, including cum laude distinction. She received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1993. Denning was appointed to the Northern Region Advisory Council for New Jersey’s Youth Consultation Services. She resides in River Edge. De Silva is the driving force behind the inaugural Ramapo Rumble Motorcycle Rally to benefit the Ramapo College Foundation and sponsors the college’s Performing Arts Dinner Series. In 2010, De Silva was named chairman of the American International Automobile Dealers Association. He has been recognized with the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award and the AIADA All Star Dealer Award. He has previously served as chairman of the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers and the Subaru National Dealer Advisory Board. De Silva has participated in Capitol Hill press conferences, and has appeared on ABC, CNN, FOX, and MSNBC as an automobile industry professional. He and his wife, Wendy, live in Mahwah. Lobo recently joined Stryker after nearly a decade at Johnson & Johnson, where he held a number of senior level leadership roles. (continued on page 10)
