Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • January 18, 2012 Area The Ridgewood Village Council voted to postpone the hearing on water rate increases for Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, and Wyckoff, and voted not to appropriate any more money to refurbish the exterior of the Ridgewood taxi stand near the railroad station. Mayor Keith Killion said that while Ridgewood wanted to keep up appearances, the $7,500 capital ordinance to refurbish the exterior of the stucco and tile building would not be the best way to spend money in tough times. The capital ordinance was introduced because it had been adver- Ridgewood will not fund more work on taxi stand tised, no one in the audience spoke, and it was defeated. Mayor Killion announced that the proposed water rate increase would be heard at the Feb. 8 public meeting of the Ridgewood Village Council. Mayors and council or committee members of the other three municipalities served by the Ridgewood Water Company have registered their dissent to any more fee increases and have taken Ridgewood to court about past increases, claiming that Ridgewood had used money from water fees to fund services not related to water service outside the borders of Ridgewood, including the Ridgewood Police Department and the paid Ridgewood Fire Department. The council, however, approved the purchase of five vehicles for the Ridgewood Water Company at a comprehensive price of $158,515 from several auto dealers. The council approved Susan Knudsen as a regular member of the Ridgewood Board of Adjustment for a term to expire in June of 2014, Gary Negrycz to an alternate term to expire in June of 2013, and Jeffrey Voigt to a term to expire this June.
