Parking ordinance now includes $1,000 top fine
by John Koster The Glen Rock Borough Council adopted an ordinance that spelled out some tough penalties for repeat parking violators and for anyone caught faking a municipal resident or employment sticker for parking convenience. Penalties include a $1,000 maximum fine and 90 days of community service for unrepentant scofflaws. Adopted into law at last week’s council meeting, the ordinance provides for fines of $15 for the first five violations of metered parking in Glen Rock, with a fine of $40 for the next five violations, $70 for the next five, and $100 for any subsequent violation in the same calendar year. The same scale applies for violations of hourly regulations. Employers who fail to register full-time employees shall be liable for a fine of $50
minimum to $500 maximum per offense. Any employee who fails to obtain an employee parking sticker will be subject to a minimum fine of $50 and a maximum fine of $500. Employee spaces were designated several years ago to keep street parking open for shoppers and off-street lots available to commuters who pay for spaces. Anyone who transfers an employee parking sticker to a non-employee will be subject to a fine of $100 to $250 for each offense. Employees who fail to park in designated employee parking spaces shall be fined $50 to $250 for each offense. Anyone who affixes to a vehicle a resident parking sticker to which he or she is not entitled will also face fines of $100 to $250. Transferring a resident parking sticker to a non-resident shall also subject the violator to a fine of $100 to $250.
Parish celebrates
Saint Catharine Church in Glen Rock recently celebrated its 59th Anniversary as a parish. The weekend began with a dinner/dance on a Saturday evening, followed by the annual Jubilee Medal Mass and awards. This year, three parishioners were honored for their Christian values and outstanding service to the parish and beyond.
