Happy Feet Dance Instruction for children ages three through five will meet on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 9. Participants will be introduced to basic ballet positions and thematic movement exploration. The cost is $60 for six weeks. Formal dance attire is not required. My First Art Class with Abrakadoodle will meet on Tuesdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. beginning Jan. 8. This class, which is open to children from 20 to 42 months with caregiver, will offer tots the chance to drip, mold, paint, and explore. The art activities are new each session and are designed to provide opportunities for little ones to touch, feel, hear, see, and explore while building fine motor skills, language, creativity, and cognitive skills. Children should dress for messy fun. The cost is $110 for the six-week session and includes all safe, non-toxic Crayola materials. Mini Doodler Art Studio with Abrakadoodle is available to children ages three through five. This mixed media class will meet from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 9. The $110 fee for the sixweek session includes all materials. Happy Piano for children ages three Children’s enrichment programs offered in village through five will meet on Thursdays from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 10. Students will learn the basics of music theory and how to play familiar songs on the piano. Educational songs, props, and teaching aids all help make learning fun. Each child is provided with his or her own keyboard to use in class. The cost is $120 for the sixweek session. All new students will need material kits, which will be available the first day of class. The kit fee is $35; checks should be payable to “Happy Piano.” Chinese for Children will be open to children ages three and four on Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 4. Those who participate absorb a new language in an immersion environment filled with age-appropriate action games, visual aids, and vocabulary-building songs. The cost is $149 for six weeks. A materials cost of $29.95 is required every other session. The Chinese for Children class for students in kindergarten through grade three will meet on Mondays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Feb. 4. The cost for six classes is $149. Materials are extra and will be available for purchase the first day of the session for $29.95 for new and third session participants. Explore Science: Make it Move will be available to children in kindergarten through grade three on Mondays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 28. Students will make a motorized wind generator, create a toolbox race car, and compete in a soda bottle boat challenge. The fee is $85 for five classes and includes all materials. Children in grades two through six are invited to sign up for acrylic painting on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. This class will begin Jan. 8. Participants will receive individual attention and will be provided with goals and objectives to help them find their own personal approach to painting. The $60 fee includes six classes. Materials are additional. A list will be provided. A calligraphy workshop for students in grades three and up will be held on Tuesdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 8. Students will create invitations, greeting cards, stationery, signs, and more. The cost is $70 for six classes. There is an additional $20 materials fee for new participants. Drawing will be offered to children in grades two through six on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 9. Students will work at their own level using drawing pencils and pastels. The fee is $60 for six classes. Materials are additional and a list will be provided at registration. Students in grades one through three are invited to 3D Sculpture with Abrakadoodle on Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 10. Participants will learn to sculpt using wire, wood, clay, aluminum, plastic, string, and paper. The cost for six classes is $110 and includes all materials. Nature in the Village with New Jersey Audubon will be offered to children in kin- dergarten through grade two on Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 10. Participants will enjoy seasonal nature discussions, hands-on crafts, and nature walks to explore the nearby environs. New topics are provided weekly. The cost is $95 for six classes and includes all materials. The Aviation Club with Hobby Quest will meet on Fridays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Jan. 11. The club is open to children in kindergarten through grade five. Participants will learn how to read and evaluate construction plans and use various hobby tools as they create and operate a variety of air models. The cost is $120 for six sessions and includes all materials. Children ages five through 15 may register for the Kidsafe program that will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The program, which will begin Jan. 15, will be held at Hawes School on Stevens Avenue. The Kidsafe Defense, Karate, and Safety Awareness program promotes self-esteem, self-discipline, defense, and safety awareness rather than aggression. New students ages five through eight will meet from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Returning and new students ages nine and up will meet from 5:20 to 6 p.m. Students with colored belts will meet from 6:10 to 6:50 p.m. The fee is $90 for 10 weeks. Uniforms are recommended, but not included in the registration fee.
