full and part-time employees. She was responsible for collection development of DVD, CD, audio, and print materials with a goal of developing and maintaining a well-rounded and appealing collection to a vast array of patrons. She created press releases, flyers, and signs for special events. She managed the reference desk and all facets of the interlibrary loans program. In June, when Boyd announced her plans to retire, the Waldwick Library Board set to work to find her successor. Sciolaro was a member of that board and served on the Search Committee that hired Boyd over 10 years ago. “We were saddened by the announcement because of all the wonderful things Patty has done for our community and our library. Yet, we were happy that she was moving on for the right reason: her well-deserved retirement,” Sciolaro said.

Last week, Glen Rock Library Director Betsy Wald and the staff held a farewell party in honor of Lori-Ann Quinn, who will be leaving Glen Rock to become library director in Waldwick. Quinn will succeed Patty Boyd, who is retiring at the end of this year. Waldwick Councilman Don Sciolaro, who chaired the Library Director Search Committee, said, “We met with several qualified and talented people who wanted to come to our community and serve as our director. In the end, the Search Committee selected Lori-Ann Quinn to be our library director upon Patty Boyd’s retirement. Lori has all the skills and experience we were looking for, but she also has the passion and vision to lead our library to meet the needs of our community.” Quinn is currently the Head of Circulation and Technical Services for the Glen Rock Public Library. A resident of Allendale, she has worked for the Glen Rock Library since she was hired as a library assistant in 2002. She was promoted to her current position in Glen Rock in 2009. She was interim director in Glen Rock for six months in 2011. Quinn received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in
education from New York University before attaining her master’s in library science from Rutgers. She was a BCCLS and NJLA Scholarship recipient in 2007. Boyd, who served on the BCCLS committee that interviewed Quinn for the scholarship, recalled, “Lori Quinn’s demonstrated interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for the profession of librarianship made her an outstanding candidate for the scholarship. She impressed me as someone I would want to hire to work at the Waldwick Library. I am delighted that, five years later, the trustees of the library have reached the same conclusion.” Waldwick Mayor Tom Giordano said, “I met (Quinn) briefly last week and congratulated her on her new position. She seems enthusiastic about taking over the reins here and said she feels warm and comfortable about the Waldwick people she will be working with. I assured her that the mayor and council will be there for her in whatever she needs, as we are for everyone else.” Among her duties in Glen Rock, Quinn was responsible for all facets of circulation and technical services. This included supervising staff and volunteers and scheduling
