(continued from page 16) and the hundreds of other families in New Jersey who are struggling to keep afloat while dealing with the hardships of having a child with cancer. Thank you! To help: Our annual fundraiser will be held at The Brick House on March 1, 2013. We are putting together an event committee. Please call us if you would like to be involved. We could use help in marketing, selling tickets, finding sponsors, and more. We rely on our local community to help support our families. Many of them do not have the financial or emotional support to help them get through a major illness like cancer. Please remember: We do not charge anything for our services. We rely on you! We are also happy to discuss our programs at your next fundraiser or event. If your company has a charitable giving program, please let us know. You can help us in a variety of ways. Turn your event into a fundraiser, and collect checks or gift cards for our families. Your efforts help us to help families in many ways, including sending a case worker to visit the families at their home or in the hospital. This support for the kids, their siblings, and parents is crucial. Get your kids involved, too. Some have held Bake Sales or Yard Sales, and donated the proceeds to ECF. Is your Cub Scout or Girl Scout Troop looking to earn badges? Call us for some ideas to get creative and have fun while learning about philanthropy! If you have a few hours a week to spare, consider becoming a volunteer, or just stop by and meet with us, take a look at our pantry, and see what ECF is all about. Call us at (201) 612-8118 before you stop by. Please do not leave items at the center without checking with us first. Our storage space is limited. The Northern Regional Center is located at 174 Paterson Avenue in Midland Park. Visit us on the web at www.emmanuelcancer.org. As always, thank you for helping the children and their families! Jewel theft (continued from page 4) matched the name on some of the pawn tickets, and the owner of the other jewelry store recognized some of the items recovered from Ridgewood Coin and Stamp. The arrest followed. In an unrelated case, a Ridgewood man who had been pulled over for driving without headlights on Dec. 6 was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in her vehicle. The 32-year-old Ridgewood woman was arrested for DWI, reckless driving, failure to use headlamps, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Reaccreditation (continued from page 7) can be witnessed. The assessors are trained members of the New Jersey Public Safely Accreditation Coalition. Once the assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the full commission, which decides if the agency is to be granted accredited status. Accreditation is for three years, during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with the standards under which it was initially accredited.
