Teen events slated Students in grades six through 12 are invited to the Holiday Crafts program that will be held at the Glen Rock Public Library on Friday, Dec. 7. Participants in this 3:30 p.m. program will make a variety of holiday snacks for friends and family. Snacks will be served. Teen Gaming will be held on Friday, Dec. 14 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Those who attend will play their favorite Wii, board, and card games and enjoy free snacks. Discussion of ‘Night Circus’ set The Tea at Two Book Club will discuss Erin Morgenstern’s “Night Circus” on Tuesday, Dec. 11. This group meets at the library located at 315 Rock Road at 2 p.m. No registration is required, and all are invited. Tea and cookies will be served. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk. Gardeners to host Muzychko Bill Muzychko will discuss “Growing Figs the New Jersey Way” at the Glen Rock Garden Club’s Dec. 18 meeting. The group will meets at the Glen Rock Municipal Annex Building at 678 Maple Avenue at 7:45 p.m. A Flemington resident, Muzychko has been successfully growing and selling fig trees and figs since 2001. His slide show will demonstrate his unique growing method for
fig trees, which usually grow in subtropical climates. The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (201) 447-6099. Seniors plan trip The Glen Rock Seniors will travel to the Landmark Inn in East Rutherford on Dec. 13 for a holiday luncheon. This event will include a performance of “Home for the Holidays” by the Jersey Dreamers and Christmas songs with the Chessmen. The cost, which includes the show, lunch, and transportation, is $37 for members, and $40 for non-members. Experience Dixieland Jazz at the library Dr. Dubious’ seven-piece band will present a free concert of jazz, blues, stomps, marches, and more at the Glen Rock Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 8. Author to discuss new book Glen Rock resident and author John Koster will discuss his new book, “Operation Snow: How a Soviet Mole in FDR’s White House Triggered Pearl Harbor,” on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Glen Rock Public Library. The book tells the story of how a trusted U.S. Treasury Department official, a graduate of Stanford and Harvard, was actually a Soviet agent of influence who used his knowledge of Japanese economics to foist a war on the United States. School holds registration for preschool classes Registration for the winter/spring semester Mom & Tot classes and a Terrific for Tots preschool class at the Glen Rock Community School will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 and Friday, Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. Mom & Tot classes for toddlers 18 through 30 months
old are designed to encourage speech, motor, social, and emotional skills through play and group interaction. Each class begins with a free-play period. During the latter portion of the class, one instructor leads parents in discussion of toddler-related development issues and ideas while the other engages children in their own group activities. The Terrific for Tots class for children who are two-anda-half allows participants to explore arts and crafts, music, educational games, perceptual motor activities, and listening activities, while interacting with other children of the same age. Mom & Tot classes are held on Mondays or Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and will begin the week of Jan. 28, 2013. Terrific for Tots class will meet on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m., beginning Jan. 24. Registration will be held at the Glen Rock Community School office, 600 Harristown Road, in the lobby of Glen Rock High School. Legion sells Entertainment Books Now through Dec. 15, the American Legion in Glen Rock will be selling the Entertainment 2013 coupon books for $30 each.
