On Aug. 17 at 3 a.m., a Ridgewood Police Department patrol responded with the Ridgewood Fire Department to two separate false fire alarms at the intersection of Hope Street and Dayton Street. While investigating a suspicious person in a vehicle in the parking lot of 14 Hope Street, a male individual was located hiding in the bushes. While investigating the person, it was determined that a 21-year-old Ridgewood man had activated the fire alarm. The accused was arrested and charged with false public alarm. He was released pending a first appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

During the same incident, the suspicious male in the vehicle parked at 14 Hope Street, a 71-year-old Hackensack man, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by the Bloomingdale Municipal Court. He was released after posting bail. Patrolman John Chuck conducted a motor vehicle stop on Franklin Avenue on Aug. 17. During the stop, it was determined that the driver, a 31-year-old Clifton resident, had outstanding warrants issued by the Wayne Municipal Court. The accused was turned over to Wayne Police Department. On Aug. 18 at 6:17 a.m., Patrolman John Ward arrested a Ridgewood man, 47, for violation of a court order. During the arrest, the accused was also charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and obstruction of justice. The accused was remanded to the Bergen County Jail. At 2:58 p.m. that day, Patrolman Joseph Dibenedetto observed a 34-year-old village man on East Ridgewood Avenue. A records check revealed an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by the Glen Rock Municipal Court. The accused was turned over to the custody of Glen Rock Police.
At 10:39 p.m., Sergeant Heath James conducted a motor vehicle stop during a Driving While Intoxicated Patrol on East Ridgewood Avenue. During the stop, it was determined that the driver, a 59-year-old village resident, was intoxicated. The accused was arrested and charged with DWI, refusal to submit to breath test, and speeding. He was released pending an appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court. On Aug. 19, a Southern Parkway resident reported that during the night her unlocked vehicle was entered and items were taken. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
A 46-year-old Ridgewood man has been arrested and sent to Bergen County Jail for lewdness after attempting to lure three girls below the age of 13 from their lemonade stand to his car. Sean Malone, 46, pulled up near the lemonade stand on Aug. 17 and argued with the three girls, asserting they should be using recyclable cups at their curbside stand. He told them to bring the lemonade to his car, where he said he kept a metal cup. The woman who was supervising the

girls warned them that something seemed suspicious and shooed them away from the car. When she approached the parked car, Malone was seated in the vehicle with his genitals exposed. The woman backed away and Malone fled. Police apprehended him later that day and charged him with lewdness, a fourthdegree felony. He was sent to Bergen County Jail after processing at the Glen Rock police station. J. KOSTER
