Armstrong, his brother-in-law Gerald Armstrong, and his nephews Jeff Armstrong, Andrew Armstrong, and Peter Armstrong. He was predeceased by his parents Isabelle and George Becker. A gathering will be held at Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Avenue in Ridgewood on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 9:30 a.m. memorial Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. He would have been entering his senior year at Ridgewood High School in September. He was a member of the Asian Festival at Ridgewood High School, and was a member of the youth ministry program at Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Ridgewood. He is survived by his mother Rhonda (nee Bartole) Campanello, his father Thomas Campanello, his brother Dylan Campanello, his grandparents Thomas and Judy Campanello and Richard Bartole, his godparents Christina and Thomas, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Albert Douma of North Haledon, formerly of Cape Coral, Florida, died Aug. 11. He was 93. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a partner in a driveway paving business. After moving to Cape Coral, Florida in 1970, he served as the director of public roads. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Jean Douma of Wyoming, Michigan; two grandsons; his sister and brotherin-law, Anna Mae and Garry Dykstra of Wayne; his sisters-in-law Genevieve Douma and Margaret Laauwe; and many nieces and nephews. Henry Herx of Ramsey died Aug. 15. He was 79. Before retiring, he was director of communications for U.S. Catholic Conferences of New York City. He received a master’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago. He was a member of The New York Film Council and the Educational Film Library Association. He is survived by G. Gerald Becker his children Katherine Herx, Margaret DeLibero, Joseph Herx, and Jeffrey Wu, four grandchildren, and his siblings Helen Herdrich, Mary Beth Miller, John, and Fred. Marie Karpowich, nee Hein, of Mahwah died Aug. 11. She was 86. She had recently marked her 50th Anniversary as an Avon representative. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Mahwah, and a member of both the Rosary Society and ICAPS. She is survived by her children Kathi Taylor of Highland Lakes, Marc Karpowich of Logan, Utah, Terri Jeker of Sparta, Debbi O’Connor of Rockaway, Jay Karpowich of Sparta, and Anthony Karpowich of Hampton, 13 grandchildren, and her brother John Hein of Parsippany. Josephine Maselli of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and Wyckoff, formerly of Paterson, died Aug. 13. She was 90. She was born in Salvatore Telesino, Italy. She and her husband were the proprietors of Jo & Sal’s Luncheonette in Paterson in the 1950s. Through the store, she organized bus rides to Bear Mountain and boat rides to Rye Beach and annual block parties to raise funds for the American Heart Association. She and her husband had been the sponsors of women’s and men’s softball teams. She is survived by her daughters Lorraine Chessa of Waldwick and Diane DiPetrillo of Wyckoff, five grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren, and her sister Rosa Casbarro of Hollywood, Florida. McCormick, nee Jones, of Glen Rock, formerly of Morristown, died Aug. 7. She was 92. She had been born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was recruited by the United States Government to serve as a secretary in the War Department during World War II. Before retiring in 1985, she was employed with Glen Rock Realty as a real estate agent for 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, and served as a church officer, deacon, and member of the Women’s Guild. She was a member of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary, the Ridgewood and Glen Rock Republican Organization, and the Glen Rock Woman’s Club, where she was a past president. She is survived by her children Patricia L. Mc-Cormick, William F. McCormick Jr., and Kenneth L. McCormick, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and her sisters Grace Kasper, Patricia Barteski, and Gwen Jones. She was predeceased by her husband William F. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint John’s University in Queens, New York and a master’s degree from Montclair State University. Before retiring in 2002, she was a chemistry teacher for 30 years at Pascack Hills High School. She was a member of the NJEA and the Wyckoff Woman’s Club. She is survived by her son John Anthony Nigro, her brother-in-law Daniel Nigro, and his wife Marietta. She was predeceased by her husband Frank A. Arrangements were made by Aloia Funeral Home in Garfield. Joyce Reedy, nee Curry, of Hackettstown, formerly of Ridgewood, died Aug. 12. She was 85. She was a graduate of Bergen Community College, and worked for the Grand Union headquarters in Paramus and Elmwood Park. Along with her husband, she owned Joyce Reedy School of Dance in Paramus for many years. She was a former dancer. She is survived by her husband William Reedy, her children Laraine Reedy, Dana Reedy Gagler, and April Schoenherr, six grandchildren, and her brother John “Jack” E. Curry. Elizabeth S. “Betty” Young of Toms River, formerly of Wyckoff, died Aug. 15. She was 74. She grew up in Powhatan, Virginia and graduated from Powhatan High School in 1956. She attended the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia for two years. Later she went back to school and earned an ADN from Northern Virginia Community College in 1992, becoming a registered nurse. She volunteered as an EMT for 25 years, first serving more than six years on the Wyckoff EMS Squad and then more than 18 years on the Silverton EMS Squad. For Silverton, she held positions as president, first lieutenant, and sergeant. She had been a Girl Scout troop leader, pitched for the Red Stockings women’s softball team, and taught an after-school Great Books reading program. She also fed lunch to needy children in Paterson. She had tea with Barbara Bush in the White House during her husband’s service as a presidential appointee in the George H.W. Bush administration from 1989 to 1993. She is survived by her husband William H. Young; her children Deborah Streeton of New Market, Maryland, William Young of Boulder, Colorado, and Elizabeth Parcells of Henniker, New Hampshire; and four grandchildren.
