Treasurer charged with stealing donations
by John Koster The former treasurer and former vice president of the Glen Rock Shooting Stars Travel Soccer Club has been arrested and charged with theft by deception in the third degree for embezzling funds donated to the club that were under his protection. Sean Corry, 46, was arrested by Detective Sergeant Eric Reamy after club members reportedly found “irregularities” with the funds in the club treasury. Corry was released on his own recognizance after his arrest and will face a preliminary hearing in municipal court. A letter sent to Shooting Stars coaches and parents said the club had become aware of suspected embezzlement activity during the past few weeks during the recent transi-
tion of board members. No one would comment on how much money was involved. Glen Rock Police Chief Frederick P. Stahman said the investigation is still in progress. “We are still going over the numbers, but at this point we estimate that a significant amount of money was misappropriated from the club’s bank account since September 2010,” Shooting Stars President Declan Daly said in the letter. “However, because the investigation is ongoing, we cannot discuss more details until we are permitted to do so by the authorities…Upon discovering the activity, the board called an emergency meeting and took the necessary steps to remove the individual from the board before turning the matter over to the proper authorities.”
Emmanuel gains support

At the event, MSO offered attendees and companies the opportunity to sponsor a hole with proceeds going to Emmanuel Cancer Foundation. For over 18 years, MSO has held a bi-weekly food collection for ECF’s food pantry. ECF provides much-needed support to New Jersey families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
