John Anthony Broomhead of Wyckoff, formerly of Glen Rock and North Haledon, died July 29. He was 96. He was a U.S. veteran of WWII. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Pace University and began a long career in finance that culminated as director, executive vice president, and chief financial officer serving on the board of directors of Saatchi and Saatchi, New York. He was a parishioner of Saint Catherine’s R.C. Church in Glen Rock. He is survived by his wife Florence Marie (nee Petersen), his children Jean Carnevale of Allendale, Dr. Paul Broomhead of Thomaston, Connecticut, and Bonnie Siebert of Hawthorne, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Michael. Arrangements were made by Browning Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. Andrew Ercolano of Ridgewood, formerly of Woodcliff Lake, died July 31. He was 80. Before retiring, he owned and operated Glenco and Glen Design in Bergen County. He was a parishioner of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Ridgewood. He is survived by his wife Sandra L. (Morales) Ercolano, his children Andrea Chambers, Michael Ercolano, Robert Ercolano, Christina Creedon, and Andrew Ercolano, nine grandchildren, and his siblings Rita Frezza and Frances Karman. Helen Marion Forenza, nee Vervoort, of Ridgewood died July 30. She was 94. She was a volunteer at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Library in Ridgewood. She was the manager for Loft’s Candies in Ridgewood, and did the displays for Loft’s Candies at Davis Pharmacy in both Ridgewood and Glen Rock. She is survived by her children Russell Forenza and Ronald Forenza, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Russell, and her siblings Stanley Vervoort, Charlotte Hugelmann, and Edith Turek. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Dean A. Gaver of Roseland, formerly Ridgewood, died July 30. He was 68. He was a graduate of Yale University, where he was a member and contributor to its alumni association. He earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

He is survived by his children Torrey, Megan, and Chad Gaver, his brother Charles “Chip” Gaver, and his companion Linda Magnano. He was predeceased by his brother James “Jimmy” Gaver. Mildred Greta Kutz, nee Johnson, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Ridgewood, died July 30. She was 87. She was a leader for Cub Scouts and Brownies, and a PTA volunteer. She worked in the office of Suburban Driver Service and later for Carteret Savings. She had been a member of the Paramus Mall Walkers’ Club. She is survived by her son Ron Kutz of Plano, Texas and Nancy Cornette of Columbia, South Carolina, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sister Florence Connerton of Rego Park, New York. Theresa M. Ott, nee Wroblewski, of Wilmington, New York, formerly of Maspeth New York, Glen Rock and Wyckoff, died July 29. She was 82. Before retiring, she was a registered nurse with the office of Dr. Asimakopulous in Wyckoff for many years. She was a parishioner of Saint Margaret R.C. Church in Wilmington, New York. She is survived by her children John Ott, Robert Ott, and Andrew Ott, seven grandchildren, and her sisters Florence Matuszewski and Joan Messemer. Theresa E. Rockermann of Ridgewood died July 29. She was 101. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. She is survived by her children George of Harwich, Massachusetts, Carl of Ridgewood, Rose Baudin of Australia, Robert of Phoenicia, New York, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her sisters Clara Zeoli, Evelyn Kirkwood, Diane Confessori, and Dina Dinapoli. Arrangements were made by C.C. VanEmburgh, Inc. in Ridgewood. Edmond A. Savoie of Glen Rock died July 26. He was 85. Before retiring, he was the director of the North Bergen Free Public Library. He had also served as director of the Canarsie Library in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Marist College High School in Bedford, Massachusetts, and graduated from Marist College and Seminary in Framingham Centre, Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He received a master’s degree in library science from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts.
He was a member of the Glen Rock Great Books Discussion Group. He attended the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood for 45 years. He is survived by his wife Brietta (Giger) Savoie, his children Philip Savoie of Hawthorne, Raymond Savoie of Bloomfield, and Anne-Marie Ollier of Wooster, Ohio, six grandchildren, and his brother Rene Savoie of North East, Maryland. He was predeceased by his sister Blanche Savoie, and his brothers Leo and Ernest Savoie. A memorial service will be planned by the family. Genevieve “Jean” Strobel of Waldwick died Aug. 1. She was 93. Before retiring, she worked for the family business, Artiste Laces in Guttenberg. She was a member of Saint Luke’s R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus and the Thunderbirds Pilot Association in Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by her children Virginia Schlesinger of Franklin Lakes, William L. Strobel Jr. of West New York, and Richard A. Strobel of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sister Helen Mulligan of Toms River. She was predeceased by her husband William L. Strobel Sr., and her sisters Ann McEwan and Elizabeth McKee. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. He was born in Buga La Grande, Colombia and moved to the United States in the early 1960s. For 40 years, he was a family-health practitioner serving the community of Ridgewood. In addition to his practice, he was an attending doctor at Valley Hospital and served for more than 30 years as the Ridgewood Public School District’s physician. He is survived by his wife Jeannette; his daughters Debra Morgan of Wyckoff, Theresa Velez of Hartford, Connecticut, Christina Uebelhoer of Buffalo, New York, Regina Hilling of Sussex, and Sharon Velez of Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Walker, nee Sellers, of Wyckoff died July 24. She was 68. She attended the Newport News Public Schools, earned a bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University in 1969 and an MBA from Long Island University in 1986. She was employed as a business teacher at Glen Rock High School for over 34 years. She is survived by her husband Reginald R. Walker, her children Desiree Walker and Stephen Walker, her siblings Francis Manley, James Sellers, Orlando Sellers, Reverend Clarence Sellers Sr., and Ronnie Sellers. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Joyce. Arrangements were made by The Carnie P. Bragg Funeral Home in Paterson.
