Barbara Joy Andersen of Ridgewood and Ho-Ho-Kus died April 9. She was 83. She received a BA in sociology from the University of Redlands in 1950, and a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University in 1965. She was a pioneer in planning, developing, constructing, and managing affordable housing for families in New Jersey during the 1960s through 1980s. She developed innovative, home-style housing for senior citizens between 1970 and 1995, and owned and operated several group homes for seniors in Ridgewood and Ho-Ho-Kus. She was a member of the Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club. She is survived by her husband Richard Andersen, her children Cheri, Scott, Lori, Jill, and Paul, 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and her sister Ruth Bryant. A celebration of her life will be held at her home in Ho-Ho-Kus at noon on June 16. Anthony P. Dinice of Toms River, formerly of Ridgewood, died April 15. He was 82. He was a milkman before becoming a Ridgewood police officer in 1956. He retired in 1981. He served as treasurer of the PBA, and helped launch the traffic division. He was a parishioner of Saint Justin R.C. Church in Toms River, a member of the Totowa Italian American Club, and a former member of the Columbia Civic League of Toms River. He helped organize events such as the Ocean County Columbus Day Parade. He is survived by his wife Rose (nee Pellitteri), his children Paul of Ridgewood, Carol Ciardi of Toms River, Deborah Salerno of Southington, Connecticut, Jean Staff of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Angela Peterson of Toms River, 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his aunt and uncle Lisette and Italo Catania. He was predeceased by his parents Angelina and Anthony Dinice. Arrangements were made by the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River. Nancy Schulze Hetsko of Cumming, Georgia, formerly of Ridgewood, died April 8. She was 58. She graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1972, New College in Sarasota, Florida in 1976, and earned an MBA in accounting from the University of Florida in 1979. After working in accounting for many years, she opened Massage Envy clinics in Cumming and John’s Creek. She was a bridge instructor and an ACBL Diamond Life Master. She is survived by her partner Lawrence “Larry” Rich, her father Robert Lincoln Schulze of Bridport, Vermont, her sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Allan Bowdery, her brother and sister-in-law Gary Schulze and Ann Marie Snyder, her nieces Clea Bowdery and Audrey Schulze, her nephew Eric Schulze, and her partner’s daughter Laura Rich and her husband Brandon Bass. She was a parishioner of Saint Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock and a member of the New Jersey Masters Track Club. Before retiring in 2011, she was a media center technician with Glen Rock High School for 34 years. She is survived by her husband David James, her children Lori James Dennis, Stephen James, and Nancy James, two grandchildren, her mother Stella (Baron), and her siblings Angelo Gennaro and Marilyn Ingulli. Howard “Howie” Kruse of Ridgewood, formerly of Franklin Lakes, died April 12. He was 59. He was a graduate of Bergen Community College and Ramapo High School, where he was a member of their Varsity State Championship Cross Country Team. He was the owner of Howard M. Kruse Lawn Care in Ramsey. He is survived by his children McKenna Kruse of Burlington, Vermont and Alex Kruse of Boston, Massachusetts, and his siblings Kevin Kruse of Pennington and Nancy Connolly of Oakland. McFaul Ph.D. of Harrington Park, formerly of Ridgewood, died April 17. He was 60. He received his master’s degree from Ohio State University in electrical engineering and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in radiation biophysics. Before retiring in 2006, he was a medical physicist with the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. He was a member of the Bethany Church of Wyckoff and Washington Township. He is survived by his wife Pamela McFaul (nee Scales) of Harrington Park; his children James A. McFaul IV, Olivia G. McFaul, and David P. McFaul, all of Harrington Park; his mother Dorothy E. McFaul of Franklin Lakes; and his brothers Mark J. McFaul of West Hartford, Connecticut and John J. “Jack” McFaul of Oakland. He was predeceased by his father James A. Virginia G. James
Pacific Corporation for 47 years, serving as corporate secretary and president of the Union Pacific Foundation. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Glen Rock, and served as a member of the church’s council. He was a volunteer with the Valley Hospital Foundation, and received the “Heart of Valley” award in 2006 for his service. He is survived by two sons, Christopher of New York and Scott of Ridgewood, and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Helen. Arrangements were made by C.C. Edmundo “Sotico” Soto of Wyckoff, died April 17. He was 84. He immigrated to the United States from Cuba. Before retiring in 1993, he worked for Bentex Mills in East Rutherford. He is survived by his children Maria Rios of Wyckoff, Mimi Ehrlich of Norwood, Maddy Soto of Fort Lee, and Edmundo Soto Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, five grandchildren, and four sisters. She contributed her skills to the work of NOVA: Hope for Haiti. She is survived by her children Amy Elizabeth Stuart, Sarah Ellen Stuart, and James Grieb Stuart, six grandchildren, and her sisters Mary Ellen Martin and Susan Erlemeier.
