Municipal budget includes $46 average tax increase
by John Koster The Glen Rock Borough Council approved its 2012 municipal-purpose budget last week. The spending plan will increase property taxes on the average Glen Rock house assessed at $550,000 by about $46. The municipal budget totals $17,027,328, and includes $200,000 for capital improvements within the borough. This budget covers the costs of administration, police, roads, the public library, and equipment for the volunteer fire department and the volunteer ambulance corps. Taxes that will support the local school district and Bergen County are not included in the municipal-purpose budget. The budget was adopted with no comment from the audience at the April 11 council meeting. In other business on the agenda, the council also voted to lease a 2012 Chevrolet Impala LT for 36 months at $395 per month as an administrative liaison vehicle for the police department. The governing body also adopted an ordinance to prohibit parking on the north and east side of Rodney Street from Main Street to Maple Avenue, and on the south and west side of Rodney Street from a point 166 feet south of Main Street to a point 228 feet south of Main Street. An ordinance that would have restricted
parking on part of Central Avenue from Rock Road to 150 feet north of Rock Road was considered, but that item has been withdrawn for further study.
