April 18, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 11 Ridgewood Students fare well in competition; eye state title Ridgewood’s academic teams recently traveled to Princeton to compete in the Regional Championships in Latin Certamen (Quiz Bowl). Students fielded questions about Latin grammar, Greco-Roman culture, history, and mythology. The Upper Level team of Akari Armatas, Zoe Blecher-Cohen, Francesca Felder, Megan Felder, and Vidushi Sharma won the Regional Championship in the Northern Division. They will now play for the state title on May 12 at New Jersey’s Junior Classical League Convention. The Intermediate Academic Team of Ben Bechtold, Matthew Casale, Warren Li, Sophie Montgomery, and Emma Szymanski took second place. Special thanks to Maryam Jahanbin, Britta Potter, Owen Rapaport and Lalka Rieger, the dependable support team and future Upper Level players.
