Rotary plans Dinner & Wine Tasting The Allendale-Saddle River Rotary Club has planned its second annual Dinner & Wine Tasting for Monday, April 20 at 7 p.m. The event will be held at Savini Restaurant, 168 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. The evening will include a five-course gourmet dinner and wines by Maratene’s of Waldwick. Tickets are $85 per person. Seating is limited. Kenny to discuss genealogy The Irish American Unity Conference, Chapter 5th and 9th CD, will meet at Christ Church, 105 Cottage Place, Ridgewood, on Wednesday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker Judy Kenny, president of the Genealogical Society of Bergen County, will discuss “Irish History Through Song” from the 16th century through the “Troubles,” and how researching many well-known Irish songs can result in a better understanding of Irish history and events. Tennis for Life benefit set Tennis for Life, an exercise and support group for breast
cancer survivors, will hold its annual fundraiser on Saturday, April 21. The event will be held at the Closter Elks Lodge at 148 Railroad Avenue, Closter. Prizes will include two tickets to London that were donated by British Airways. Many other prizes will be available during this event, which will run from 7 to 11 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Hip Replacements and by comedian Monique Scott. Tickets are $35 per person for the buffet dinner. There will be a cash bar. TFL is run by survivors. Spinal stenosis highlighted The Valley Hospital, Department of Community Health, will host “Pain: Is It Spinal Stenosis?” on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m., in the Nanuet Public Library, 149 Church Street in Nanuet, New York. There is no charge to attend. Cramping, numbness, weakness, or pain in the arms or legs is often caused by spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal canal that can irritate the nerves from the spinal cord. The community is invited to join Jennifer Epperlein, D.O., physiatrist from The Valley Hospital, for this educational program and learn which treatments may help. Registration is required. Calling all Cadillac enthusiasts On Sunday, April 29, the Cadillac Club of North Jersey will host an all-Cadillac show at the Stateline Overlook
in Alpine, just off the northbound lanes of the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Cadillacs and LaSalles of all years are welcome. Cadillacs from 1997 and older will be judged by “People’s Choice” balloting. Cadillacs from 1998 and newer will be entered as “Display Only.” Show hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Show car registration is $15 in advance, $20 day of show. Cars from 1942 or earlier may register free of charge. There is no admission fee for spectators. Prospective members are invited to contact Dick Bankart at (201) 664-7672 or rwbankart@yahoo.com. ‘Eat, Play, Give’ event slated The Adler Aphasia Center in Maywood will hold its Spring fundraiser, “Eat, Play, Give,” on May 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Space Odyssey, located at 491 South Dean Street in Englewood. The evening will include food, entertainment, glow-in-the-dark bowling, carnival games, laser tag, paintless paintball, video games, and more. Tickets are $89 for adults and $20 for children ages seven through 12. Children ages six and under will be admitted free of charge. All proceeds will support scholarships for people with aphasia to attend Adler Aphasia Center programs. The Adler Aphasia Center, a non-profit organization, is a post-rehabilitative therapeutic center that addresses the long-term needs of people with aphasia and their families. Aphasia is a language disorder caused by stroke or other brain injury.
