Religious Notes OPRC prepares for Holy Week Ridgewood’s Old Paramus Reformed Church will offer a number of services during Holy Week. The Maundy Thursday service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 5 and will include personal meditation, prayers, music, and Holy Communion. Two Good Friday services based on the theme “Nails of the Cross” will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on April 6. At each service, worshipers will be given a nail as a symbol of personal suffering. There will be Scripture readings, prayers, hymns, and the candles will be extinguished. On Easter Sunday, April 8, a 10 a.m. service will celebrate Christ’s resurrection. A sermon will be delivered by Pastor Marsden. There will also be special music by the choir, organ, and brass, and the congregation will join the choir in Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” Ecumenical service set The pastors and churches of Midland Park invite the community to a special observance of Good Friday on April 6 at 6 p.m. The service will be held at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church at 183 Godwin Avenue. Celebrate Holy Week at MPCRC Midland Park Christian Reformed Church will remember Christ’s death and celebrate his resurrection during Holy Week with special services. On Good Friday, April 6, there will be a Community Tenebrae service with special choral music at 6 p.m. The “Hallelujah Chorus” will be featured at the Easter Sunday, April 8, service at 9:30 a.m. Located at 183 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, the church is wheelchair accessible. On Holy Thursday, April 5, and Good Friday, April 6, services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Contemporary worship will be held Saturday, April 7 at 5 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 8, services will be held at 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. A Fellowship Breakfast will be served from 7:15 to 9:15 a.m. The church is handicapped accessible and has assisted listening devices available. Abundant Life celebrates the season Abundant Life Reformed Church will host a light meal commemorating Jesus’ Last Supper on Thursday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m. A worship service with Holy Communion will follow. There will be an Easter Breakfast, Puppet Show, and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The event will feature ventriloquist Marian Gehman of Marian and Friends. Her shows feature a variety of zany characters, audience-involvement, and an inspirational message. A freewill family offering will be accepted. The event is open to the public.
