Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • April 4, 2012 Obituaries Everett J. “Eddie” Adams of Ridgewood, formerly of Ringwood and Hawthorne, died March 25. She was 94. Before retiring in 1980, he was a night foreman at A&P Food Store in Allendale for 40 years. He was a charter member of Skyline Lake Fire Department, and a Ringwood special police officer. He was a parishioner of Saint Catharine’s R.C. Church and a member of the Saint Catharine’s Young at Heart group. He was a member of the Wanaque and Ringwood seniors, and a former chairman of the Passaic County Senior Advisory Board. He is survived by his children Stephen Adams of Toms River and Diane Marie Smith of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his siblings Phillip Adams of Hastings on the Hudson, New York and Margaret “Peggy” Kessler of Glastonbury, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his wife Marie “Mary” (Lozito) Adams. Arrangements were made by D’Agostino Funeral Home. He was a U.S. Army Medical Corps veteran. He graduated from the City College of New York in 1943. In 1946 he received the degree of doctor of medicine from Cornell University Medical College. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and Alpha Omega Alpha. He was a plastic surgeon at the New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center. He was board certified in surgery and in plastic surgery. He practiced plastic and reconstructive surgery in New York City and New Jersey, becoming director of plastic surgery at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood and Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. He was a member of the America College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, and the Association for Surgery of the Hand. He was a member of the Lepidopterist’s Society, and the Newark Entomological Society. He was a member of the Ridgewood Art Institute, where he served on its board and as president. He is survived by his children John Andrew Bowe, MD of Rumson, Richard Frederick Bowe, MBA of Boston, Massachusetts and Mirror Lake, New Hampshire, Christopher Howard Bowe of North Andover, Massachusetts, Donald James Bowe MBA of Zionsville, Pennsylvania, and Barbara Bowe Dershowitz, MD of New York City, and 11 grandchildren. Alice “Lucky” Gillmore, nee Schmitt, of Mahwah, formerly of Ridgewood, died March 22. She was 77. She retired from the Wyckoff branch of Hudson United Bank in 1999. She was a member of the Wyckoff Garden Club. She is survived by her children Cynthia Fairchild, and Everett J. ‘Eddie’ Adams Richard Jr., and six grandchildren. She served as a nurse in the U.S.N.R. during World War II. She graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon School and Skidmore College, where she earned a B.S. degree in nursing. She is survived by her children Robert Jr. of Woodstock, Connecticut, William of Allendale, and Susan Flannery of Ramsey; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on April 7 at 11 a.m. at Grace Church, 340 Meadowbrook Avenue in Ridgewood. Galina Maltseva, nee Kuzminova, of Ridgewood, formerly of Leningrad, Russia, died March 24. She was 98. She had been a medical doctor and professor of anatomy at the First Medical Institute of Leningrad for many years. She was a veteran of WWII, serving as a front line surgeon for the Russian Army. She was the main character in the memoir “A Mountain of Crumbs” written by her daughter Elena Gorokhova. She is survived by Marina Maltseva and Elena Gorokhova, and one grandchild. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Richard Yale Miller of Wyckoff died March 24. He was 83. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the former owner of Millers Pharmacy in Wyckoff. He was the son of the founder Robert Miller. He was a past president of the New Jersey Pharmaceutical Association, and served as adjunct professor at both the Albany and Rutgers colleges of pharmacy. Among his many awards and honors were the Bowl of Hygeia for pharmacy community service, the Kilmer Award for Pharmaceutical Literature, and the Rosica Award for outstanding work with pharmacy students. He founded the Myra and Alan Kaplan Memorial Scholarship for pharmacy students. He served as chairman of the Wyckoff Drug Abuse Council and Lion’s Club and served on the Juvenile Conference Committee and board of health. He started the Parkinson’s Support Group in Ridgewood and worked tirelessly to find a cure for this disease. He graduated from Syracuse University and from the Albany College of Pharmacy. He is survived by his wife Carol Motyka-Miller; his children David of Wyckoff, Douglas of Shorewood, Minnesota, and Debbie of Mahwah; stepchildren Mark Motyka of Happy Camp, California and Danielle Motyka of Syracuse, New York; nine grandchildren; and his brother Edward of Wanaque. She has also been a leader on several youth mission trips, including a recent trip to Tennessee. The GRHS Unsung Heroes are five young men who made a difficult situation better for a fellow student. During the Model UN trip earlier this year, another student was injured, which could have left his partner by himself.
