Lions hold Herb Bodensiek Golf Classic The Saddle River Valley Lions Club will host its Seventh Annual Herb Bodensiek Golf Classic on Monday, Oct. 1 at the Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, New York. The day will begin with a continental breakfast is at 7 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The $110 cost per player includes golf, cart, continental breakfast, and barbecue lunch on the deck. A hole-in-one contest with a grand prize of $5,000 plus special contests and fundraisers will round out the day. The Herb Bodensiek Golf Classic is one of the club’s major fundraising events. The club, founded in 1958, has raised over $1,900,000 for local charities and volunteer community organizations. The Saddle River Valley Lions Club mainly serves the communities of Mahwah, Ramsey, Saddle River, and Upper Saddle River. Members of the club come from 13 different communities. College Club seeks books for annual fair The College Club of Ridgewood will begin collecting used books on Wednesdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 12. The books may be dropped off from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Somerville School, located at 45 South Pleasant Avenue in Ridgewood. No collections will be held on Nov. 21 or Dec. 26. Books should be in good condition. Please note that encyclopedias and reference books will not be accepted. Donated items will be sold at an upcoming club fair. Run for the Fallen set New Jersey Run for the Fallen, a three-day, 172-mile run to honor every New Jersey service member killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), will take place Sept. 28 through 30. Allendale Woman’s Club Board Secretary Lynn Novak ties a teal ribbon on a tree in Allendale to mark the local Turn the Town Teal Campaign. This national ovarian cancer awareness program is being held in Allendale in memory of AWC member Linda Fleischauer. The teal ribbons bear the message, ‘Know the symptoms,’ and a website where people can learn more. For a list of symptoms, visit allendalewomansclub.org or turntetownteal.org. The 2012 TTTT campaign will include the Second Linda Fleischauer Memorial Walk on Sept. 23 at Crestwood Lake in Allendale. Effective Sept. 7, the Ridgewood Water Company has lifted the Stage II restrictions on lawn sprinkler use. Ridgewood Water customers in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, and Wyckoff may now abandon the oddeven watering schedule that took effect on July 10, and return to watering as they deem necessary. The restrictions were enacted, Ridgewood officials said, because excessive water use had restricted water reserves and lowered water on hand to such an extent that
