Health program has new location, schedule Beginning in September, the Wyckoff Health Program will be held on Tuesdays from noon to 3 p.m. in the Monroe Room at the Wyckoff Public Library at 200 Woodland Avenue. This room is on the lower level, and an elevator is available. The program will now be held twice a month. The dates will be posted on www.wyckoff-nj.com and e-mailed to all site registrants. Those who register an e-mail address at “site-registration” on the home page will receive updates when the schedule is posted. September dates will be Sept. 11, which will feature fall prevention; and Sept. 25, which will address flu prevention. The following services are available: blood pressure monitoring, nutritional information (including diet consultation), cardiac risk factor information, osteoporosis risk identification, medication consultations, initial health referrals, and diabetes risk factor identification. A registered nurse conducts the sessions. This service is free to all Wyckoff adults, and appointments are not necessary. Gardeners plan meeting, Plant Sale The Wyckoff Area Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 19 to discuss the “good, the bad, and the ugly” at the Wyckoff Public Library. The group will meet at 7 p.m. to review the successes, failures, surprises, and lessons learned over the summer gardening season. All are welcome. The library is located at 200 Woodland Avenue in Wyckoff. On Sept. 29, the club will host a Plant Sale at 325 Franklin Avenue, across from the Boulder Run Shopping Center, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale, which will be held rain or shine, will feature new plants and many plants from members’ gardens. Volunteer reception scheduled The Friends of the Wyckoff Library invite library volunteers, prospective volunteers, and prospective “Friends,” to a Sept. 6 reception. The event will be held from 7 to 8:30

The Friends of the Wyckoff Library organization offers programs to the public and assistance to the library and its patrons. Memorial Ceremony set The Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department will host a Memorial Ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. The service will be held at the Wyckoff Fallen Firefighters Memorial located at Fire Company #1 at Scott Plaza. The service will honor all those who were lost on Sept. 11, 2001, including 11 residents of Wyckoff. One of those residents was Dana Rey Hannon, a former member of the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department who was serving with the FDNY the day of the attacks. All are invited to attend. Yankees and Giants players to appear Get to know the pros on Sept. 17, when David Phelps and Jayson Nix of the New York Yankees and Prince Amukamara of the New York Giants are scheduled to appear at the Wyckoff YMCA, 691 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. These athletes will share their journeys to the world of professional sports, the role a personal faith played, and how they have succeeded in facing the challenges and pressures in their lives. General admission is $10 per person. To become a “Hall of Fame Sponsor,” the cost is $300, which entitles the sponsor to the pre-event “meet and greet” reception at 6 p.m., reserved seating for two, and an autographed ball. Register for Evening Bible Study Registration is now open for the 2012-13 North Jersey Evening Community Bible Study, beginning Sept. 11 at Cornerstone Christian Church, 495 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. The 30-week study is open to men and women from all backgrounds and meets weekly on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the church. This year, the group will study the book of Revelation. The four-part format includes commentary, home study questions, men’s and women’s core group discussions of
the home study questions, and a weekly lecture by a teaching director. This format offers an opportunity for beginners to study the Bible. There is a $25 registration fee, and a $2 weekly donation is requested to offset the cost of the study materials. Scholarships are available for those with financial need. High School Information Night set Saint Elizabeth Interparochial School in Wyckoff will host a High School Information Night on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The program will be held at the school located on Greenwood Avenue in Wyckoff at 7:30 p.m. Representatives from local parochial high schools will present their programs and answer questions. Story time registration set In-person registration for the Wyckoff Public Library’s story times has begun in the Rizzo Children’s Room. Rhyme Time for children ages birth to 30 months and their caregivers will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 10, 17, and 24, and Oct. 1 and 8; or on Sept. 12, 19, and 26, and Oct. 3 and 10. Children 30 months through three years and their caregivers may join Toddler Tales on Sept. 14, 21, and 28, and Oct. 5 and 12 at either 10 or 11 a.m. Storytime Fun for Fours and Fives is for children to attend independently. Participants may choose one of two sessions. One session will be held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11, 18, and 25, and Oct. 2 and 9. Vendors sought for Country Fair The Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat 47th Annual Country Fair will be held Sept. 29 on the municipal field in Wyckoff. The event features activities for the entire family, including rides, games, food, crafts, pony rides, scarecrow making, pumpkin painting, homemade treats, Dutch cheese, ollie bollen, and fresh lemonade.
