Eastwick, president of Eastwick College and the HoHoKus Schools, will be honored at the 2012 Star Stream Ball presented by the Palisades Medical Center Foundation. Proceeds from the event, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Venetian in Garfield, will support the expansion and renovation of the pediatric unit at Palisades Medical Center. This year’s ball celebrates the “Magic of the Season.” Eastwick, with nearly 40 years of experience in educational positions, is an innovator and visionary in the field of specialized education. His schools are recognized for a groundbreaking approach that has led to a growing list of industry accreditations and affiliations. Eastwick Education was the first New Jersey-owned proprietary corporation to be recognized by the NJ Commission on Higher Education, allowing its schools to offer degrees. This was the first proprietary school approved by the NJ Board of Nursing to teach nursing; the first and longest continuously-running electronics school in the state; and the first proprietary school approved to offer electrical and plumbing apprenticeship programs approved by the Department of Labor. At every step, Eastwick Education has pushed into new territories of the education industry, earning success and recognition for itself and its students. Service and philanthropy are two important aspects of Eastwick’s life - characteristics he seeks to cultivate in his students. Eastwick College and HoHoKus School students participate in numerous charitable endeavors, with every dollar raised matched by the school. Eastwick serves on both the PMC Foundation and PMC Board of Governors as well as the Foundation at Bergen Regional Palisades Medical Center to honor Thomas Eastwick Medical Center. Also honored at the ball will be Mohamed Lateef, MD, a member of the PMC staff. Dr. Lateef has an extensive and distinguished career at PMC. His accomplishments and contributions have played an instrumental role in advancing patient care and clinical services. Dr. Lateef has held a number of leadership positions at PMC, including chairman of emergency services and director of house physicians. He has been a generous supporter of the PMC Foundation, serving on its Board of Governors since 2008.
