Midland Park October 10, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 7 Former Midland Park Police Chief John Casson was honored last week at a dinner hosted by the Midland Park Republican Club following his retirement after 44 years of service to the police department. “He is the epitome of a good street cop. His depth of knowledge and understanding of police work are legend,” said Mayor Patrick “Bud” O’Hagan, who acted as master of ceremonies. “It went so quickly and was so rewarding,” said Casson, who acknowledged he misses the people he served with now that he off the force. He thanked his wife, Marilyn, for her support without complaint during his years as a police officer, and expressed pride in the fact that both of his sons have followed in his footsteps. Jeff is a police officer in Ridgewood, and Chris is on the Eatontown, NJ Police Department. A surprise guest at the dinner was Former Chief Casson thanked for his service Steve Brandt, who had owned Bradt Pharmacy in Wortendyke, where Casson worked before he was appointed to the police force.
