Early deadline notice Villadom Happenings RCB to present world premiere The Ridgewood Concert Band will continue its 30th Anniversary Season with “Music Electric” on Dec. 7. The concert program will include varied selections including “Holiday Fanfare Medley” (J. Stephenson) and the world premiere of “X-ING for Electric Viola and Concert Band” by Martha Mooke. Mooke, an award-winning performer and composer, will also serve as the guest soloist for the piece. Frank Battisti, conductor emeritus of the New England Conservatory Wind Ensemble, as guest conductor. The Emerson High School Band will open with a prelude performance at 7:30 p.m., and the RCB program will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $15 for seniors. Student tickets are $7. Tickets may be purchased online at www. ridgewoodband.org or at the door. The concert will be held at West Side Presbyterian Church located at 6 South Monroe Street in Ridgewood. Tuesday Painters set Winter Show The Tuesday Painters will hold a Winter Show from Dec. 1 through Jan. 4 at the Louis Bay 2nd Library in Hawthorne located at 345 Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne. On display will be over 50 paintings in watercolors, oils, pencil, ink, charcoals, and pastels. The works that will be displayed will feature varied compositions and media, and will range from the abstract to realism. Organized by the former students of renowned watercolorist Billie Samuelson, the Tuesday Painters is a cooperative venture of 25 local artists who enjoy painting together. The group includes members from Wyckoff, Midland Park, Allendale, Franklin Lakes, Ridgewood, and other towns in Bergen and Orange counties. Members of the Tuesday Painters have won many awards, and some are signature members of the Pastel Society, and the North East Watercolor Society. Some are elected members of various juried artist groups, including the Salmagundi Club and the Art Center Watercolor Affiliates, among others. The painters meet on Tuesdays at the Highlands Presbyterian Church, 270 Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. A visiting model appears once a month, and a critique is held every eight weeks. Membership is limited, but is open at Tie-dyed Tallitot Zoe Greenwald and her seventh grade class created their own tallit at The Gerrard Berman Day School, Solomon Schechter of North Jersey. Under the tutelage of Head of School Rabbi Ellen Bernhardt (pictured with Zoe) and Rabbi Yaakov Traiger, the unique art project began in Rabbinics class. Students studied tallit construction, tied their own knots and made the aterah. They also learned the proper use and care of a tallit. this time. The toys will be donated to the Paterson Boys and Girls Club Toy Sale. The food will be forwarded to CUMAC in Paterson. Ridgewood Moving Services, located at 575 Corporate Drive in Mahwah, will collect toys through Dec. 6 and transport them to the Boys and Girls Club in time for the sale.
