Fire department promotions recognized by township
by John Koster The Wyckoff Township Committee acknowledged several promotions within the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department and recognized the department’s newest members. However, the youngest of the new firefighters could not be present because last week’s township committee meeting conflicted with training night. New Junior Firefighters Patrick Alvarez, Joseph Alvarez, and Kevin Ciampo, all of Company # 1, were honored in absentia. “I don’t think that many residents completely understand the commitment for training and call-outs to the volunteer fire department,” Township Committeeman Rudy Boonstra, a long-time volunteer firefighter, said of the fact that the youngsters were too busy to attend their own installation. Boonstra praised the leadership of Chief Mike Rose and Deputy Chief Lou Graglia in constantly attracting high-quality recruits to the department. (continued on page 21)
