Midland Park will save more than $3,000 this year on its lawn maintenance service. Greenleaf Landscaping, the company that has been cutting the lawn on town properties for several years, was the low bidder for the work for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Its previous annual charge had been $19,992. “We’re pleased with the work they’ve done for us in the

past, so we are happy they were the low bidder. We know we’ll have good service for the next four years. They have a good working relationship with our municipality,” commented Borough Clerk/Administrator Addie Hanna. “For them, it’s steady income with a good town,” she added. Seven contractors submitted bids, which ranged up to $37,940 for the work.
The Eatontown contractor was awarded the bid in the amount of $16,870, plus an option of $1,800 for spring cleanup for each of the next two years. Fertilizing is not part of the work. Seven borough properties are included in the contract: the municipal complex on Godwin Avenue, which includes town hall and the library; the cemetery across the street; Wortendyke Park, Veterans Plaza, the firehouse/borough garage complex; the Dairy Street Recreation Fields; and 120 Woodside Avenue, an adjacent property purchased with Open Space funds for future recreational use.
