Celebrate Holy Week at MPCRC Midland Park Christian Reformed Church will remember Christ’s death and celebrate his resurrection during Holy Week with special services, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Palm Sunday, April 1. On Holy Thursday, April 5, and Good Friday, April 6, services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Contemporary worship will be held Saturday, April 7 at 5 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 8, services will be held at 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. A Fellowship Breakfast will be served from 7:15 to 9:15 a.m. The church is handicapped accessible and has assisted listening devices available. Good Friday Devotional Walk set On Good Friday, April 6, the Allendale Community of Churches invites the public to its annual Good Friday Worship Service, “The Way of the Christ’s Passion” devotional walk at noon. This year’s walk will begin outside at Guardian Angel Catholic Church at 320 Franklin Turnpike and end in the sanctuary of Archer United Methodist Church at 37 East Allendale Avenue. Participating churches include Archer United Methodist, Calvary Lutheran, Guardian Angel Roman Catholic, Highlands Presbyterian, Trinity Episcopal, and Zion Lutheran in Saddle River. Patterned after the Stations of the Cross, a procession of people, led by a large, roughly-hewn cross, will follow a prescribed route through Allendale. Along the route, the procession will stop at 14 locations for scripture reading and prayer. Many of the lay readers and leaders of this event are youths from each congregation. The 14 stations will recall the events of Christ’s suffering and death and their contemporary implications. The Allendale Clergy Association invites all people, regardless of whether they are members of a church community, to participate. At the last station, a monetary offering to benefit the Center for Food Action will be accepted. Church collects food, sets seder Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Ho-Ho-Kus is sponsoring its annual Easter Food Drive. Donations can be brought to the church at 70 Sheridan Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus on Saturday, March 31 or Sunday, April 1. The food will be delivered to the Ramapough Indians in Mahwah. Donations of canned meats, vegetables, fruit, pasta, tea, coffee, rolls and sugar would be appreciated. On April 5, the church will host its annual Seder Supper at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Palm Sunday procession and service set Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 96 East Allendale Road in Saddle River, will hold a Palm Sunday procession on April 1 at 9:30 a.m. The procession will begin at Fellowship Hall and will feature Splash the Donkey. The 10 a.m. worship service that will follow will include a reading of the passion according to Saint Mark. Palms will be distributed.
