Collier to exhibit paintings During the month of April, local artist Jacqueline Collier will present an exhibit of her paintings at the Franklin Lakes Public Library at 470 DeKorte Drive. Born in New York City, Collier has been a resident of Teaneck for over 25 years. Her interest in art started early. She always enjoyed painting, and has always had a love of nature and a desire to express the feelings that nature evokes through her art. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where her goal was fashion illustration. Taking a turn toward early childhood education, she received her bachelor’s degree from Herbert H. Lehman College, and her master’s degree from the College of New Rochelle in special education. After teaching for more than 30 years, she now devotes her time to her painting with a focus on watercolors. She is a member of the Pascack Art Association, The Salute to Women in the Arts, and The Pen and Brush Society, and an associate member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society. Board of education to meet The Franklin Lakes Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, April 3. The 8 p.m. meeting will be held at Colonial Road School, located at 749 Colonial Road. Republican Club to meet The Franklin Lakes Republican Club will meet on Monday, April 2 at 7:45 p.m. at the Bender Court Ambulance Corps Building on Bender Court. The club will
review strategies for upcoming municipal, county and state elections, and discuss fundraising and future programs. The Franklin Lakes Republican Club is a non-profit organization established to represent the Republican Party in Franklin Lakes. It is devoted to the cause of community improvement and good government through the medium of an organized Republican Party and the support of candidates for public office who will best represent the interests of the residents and taxpayers of Franklin Lakes. Living Stations of the Cross set The youth group at Most Blessed Sacrament Church will present the Living Stations of the Cross on Sunday, April 1. Students perform Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ Franklin Avenue Middle School will present Walt Disney’s “Aladdin” on March 30 and 31 and April 1 at the middle school located at 755 Franklin Avenue. The story involves a young man who finds a magic lamp,
and unintentionally unleashes a genie who grants him three wishes. Throughout his undertakings, the young man meets Princess Jasmine, who is looking to break the monotony of her life. Together, they enjoy an exciting adventure in the city of Agrabah as they deal with the evil Jafar. The students have been involved in all aspects of this production, including set design, painting, and directing. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on March 30 and 31 and at 2 p.m. on April 1. Lions host Wine Tasting Night The Franklin Lakes Lions Club will host a Night of Wine Tasting on Friday, March 30 at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes from 7 to 10 p.m. The evening will feature an array of select wines from the Wine Seller of Ridgewood, appetizers, a pasta station, buffet dinner, dessert, and coffee.
