Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • March 21, 2012 Franklin Lakes Stained glass windows saved; donors to be honored On Thursday, March 22, at 7 p.m., Temple Emanuel of North Jersey will host a champagne and dessert party to honor the 37 generous donors who made possible the safe removal of the 27 circa-1929 stained glass windows and an art deco stained glass dome from the sanctuary of the congregation’s former home in Paterson. The donors will be presented with certificates of appreciation for their contributions to ensure the windows’ continued display within the Jewish community. Proceeds from the $18 admission charge will be used toward cleaning and restoring the windows. The program is open to the public. The window removal project was performed over a six-month period last year by a crew of five skilled craftsmen with special staircase scaffolding to reach the sanctuary’s 55-foot ceiling. The windows, some of which were engraved in memory of the congregation’s early benefactors, will be installed in a future expansion of the congregation’s new home in Franklin Lakes.
