Ecumenical Good Friday Service set The pastors and churches of Midland Park invite the community to a special observance of Good Friday on April 6 at 6 p.m. The service will be held at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church at 183 Godwin Avenue. Alliance offers seminar The Midland Park Municipal Alliance will host a seminar for parents, “Empowering Your Children to make Healthy Choices and Decisions,” on Wednesday, March 28 at 8 p.m. The program will be held in Memorial Hall at Midland Park High School, 250 Prospect Street. Easter Egg Hunt planned Midland Park Recreation will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for Midland Park residents at Veterans Field on Saturday, March 31. Participants will be grouped by age. Children who are two and three years of age will hunt at 1 p.m.; participants who are four and five will hunt at 1:30 p.m.; and those who are six and seven will start at 2 p.m. Each child should bring a basket. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera for photos with the Easter Bunny. Boys go ‘Scouting for Food’ Cub Scout Pack 157 and Boy Scout Troop 157 will participate in the annual Ramapo Valley District Food Drive. Midland Park residents are asked to be on the lookout for bags that were recently distributed and fill them with canned or dried packaged food, toiletries, paper supplies, baby food, etc. The filled bags should be placed on residents’ front steps or in another visible location. Scouts will pick up the bags on Saturday, March 31 between 9 a.m. and noon. The donated food will go to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. Sponsors sought for Car Show The Midland Park High School Interact Club is seeking sponsors and donations for its first Car Show and prize basket fundraiser. The show and fundraiser will be held May 5 in the high school’s main parking lot at the front of the school. The Interact Club will be joining other community organizations to help the Midland Park/Wyckoff Rotary Club sponsor a child in the national organization’s Gift of Life Program. The Interact Club asks the community to contribute food and beverages for the students to sell to Car Show attendees. Sponsors will be recognized at the concession stand. Sponsorships are offered to individuals and businesses. The following sponsor levels are offered: $100 for platinum, $75 for gold, and $50 for silver. Lions host Pancake Breakfast The Midland Park Lions Club will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, March 25 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Midland Park Fire House Hall at 45 Witte Drive. The menu will include pancakes, bacon, sausages, juice, coffee, tea, and bagels. At the breakfast, the club will launch its Name the Guide Dog Puppy Drive II. She provides floral demonstrations for local Scout troops, pre-school programs, women’s clubs, and senior groups. She is a consistent supporter of local schools and educational programs. Wild attended Cornell University and Columbia Law School. He is currently a litigator with Lowenstein Sandler PC and is co-chair of the firm’s capital markets litigation group and fiduciary counseling and litigation group. He has more than 25 years of experience in complex financial litigation and arbitration and is the “go to” litigator for numerous major companies and other clients. He has litigated extensively for various causes, including the rights of the homeless, anti-discrimination cases, death penalty appeals, and child advocacy. He has worked with 40 homeless residents of Lakewood, many of whom have lost jobs and homes during the recession and now survive in a tent city in Ocean County. He is working in close coordination with local non-profits and religious organizations to provide assistance to the needy. They were also successful in encouraging the township to cease eviction proceedings and address the problem of homelessness by cooperating in a three-step plan. His fiancée, Laura Peterson, is a literary agent at Curtis Browne, Ltd. in New York City. Torack was born and raised in Clifton. She graduated from Ladycliff College in Highland Falls, New York, where she earned a BA degree. After graduating, she attended William Paterson University and Rutgers for graduate studies. She taught second grade in the Clifton Public Schools for two years, then married Edward Torack and had three daughters. While her children were young, she volunteered at Saint Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff, where she taught CCD for 10 years. She has been a county committee member for over 30 years and chaired Senator Henry McNamara’s annual breakfast for over 20 years. She taught kindergarten and first grade in Franklin Lakes for 23 years, and was named Teacher of the Year twice. She is actively involved at the Wyckoff Family YMCA as a member, volunteer, and supporter. Van Der Horn was born and raised in Wyckoff and is a graduate of Ramapo High School. From 1980 to 1995, she lived in New York’s Hudson Valley and was responsible for the visual merchandising for the East Coast region of a large retail chain. She returned to floral design after her daughter was born. In 1995, she moved back to Wyckoff, and managed
