FLOW Area March 7, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 7 Board removes name from administration building by Frank J. McMahon The Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education has approved a resolution to remove the name of the district’s former superintendent, Paul J Saxton, from the façade of the administrative office building at Indian Hills High School. The resolution states that the previous board named the building after Saxton without a policy or uniform criteria in effect at the time to guide that board in its consideration and selection of candidates after whom the building would be named. The resolution further states that the current board has reconsidered that earlier action and concluded it would be in the best interest of the district and the community to ensure that the naming of districtowned buildings be effectuated, if at all, only after careful consideration guided by appropriate selection criteria and procedures. The resolution was moved by Board Vice President Lynn Budd, seconded by trustee Debra Strauss, and approved 6-1 with one abstention. Those trustees voting to approve the resolution were Budd, Strauss, Elizabeth Pierce, Isabelle Lanini, Thomas Bunting, and Board President Ira Belsky. (continued on page 10) Operation PROM seeks formalwear High school juniors Amy Na of Bergen Academies in Hackensack and Cheyenne Wickham of Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes have teamed up for a worthy cause. Last summer, the two girls started a local chapter of Operation PROM called Operation PROM of Bergen and Passaic Counties, NJ. Operation PROM is a nationally recognized 501(c)3 notfor-profit organization and their chapter is a member of donatemydress.org, the first national network to bring together local dress drive organizations across the U.S. Na and Wickham aim to collect prom and special occasion dresses and distribute them to girls who cannot afford to buy dresses so they can enjoy special events. The girls are planning to hold dress drives in Bergen and Passaic counties during the prom season and are now accepting new or gently used formal dresses for an event to be held at the end of March. Anyone with dresses that are available for donation is urged to contact Amy at (201) 364-5552 or amy@helpprom.org or Cheyenne at (201) 962-5716 or cheyenne@helpprom.org.
