Incumbent Midland Park Board of Education trustees Robert Shiffer, William Sullivan, and Timothy Thomas have filed for re-election in the April 17 election in which three three-year seats will be available. Newcomer Peter Triolo will run for Ray Moraski’s two-year unexpired term. Earlier this year, Moraski announced that he would be leaving the board this spring after 10 years.
No contests emerge as school board candidates file
Schiffer, who is currently serving as board president, has been a trustee for 24 years. He is the founder and managing director of Wasco Capital Services, an equipment leasing and financing company in Glen Rock. He is a former president of the Midland Park Board of Recreation, the Girls Softball League, and the High School Boosters Association, and co-founded the Midland Park Basketball Association. Sullivan, who has served as the board’s vice president for the last two years, is seeking his third term. He is vice president of sales at Unimac Graphics in Carlstadt, a commercial printing company. He has served as treasurer of the MPHS Boosters Association; was president, vice president, and treasurer of the Midland Park Baseball
Association; and has coached baseball, basketball, and soccer for the borough’s recreation program and Nativity CYO. He is also a lector at the Church of the Nativity. He is a former Den Leader for Pack 157 and ran the Pinewood Derby for 10 years. Sullivan is a 1978 graduate of Ridgewood (continued on page 14)
