Auxiliary hosts sleep expert On March 14, the Midland Park Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host Valley Hospital Sleep Lab Supervisor Chris McCarthy. The program, “Sleep Well, Feel Well,” will begin at 10 a.m. at the Faith Reformed Church at 95 Prospect Street in Midland Park. New members are welcome. Plans for the auxiliary’s 43rd Annual Spring Fashion Show scheduled for May 8 are under way. The Spring Is in the Air Committee is seeking donations of merchandise and gift certificates for its prize basket fundraiser. The show and luncheon will be held at the Brownstone in Paterson. Tickets are $35 and will be available for purchase at the March 14 meeting. Softball association plans meeting The Midland Park Softball Association will meet March 20 at the Midland Park Library at 250 Godwin Avenue. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and all are invited. Casino trip offered to seniors The Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center in Midland Park will host a trip to Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City on Wednesday, March 28. Area seniors age 60 and over are welcome to attend. The cost of this trip is $25 and includes a casino bonus of $25. All participants must have a rewards card from the casino or valid photo identification to receive the casino bonus. Please note that the casino reserves the right to change the bonus at any time. Payment should be mailed to NW Seniors, 46-50 Center Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432. Seniors are asked to call before sending payment or stop by the center to confirm a seat on the bus. Hall of Fame nominations sought The Midland Park School District is currently seeking nominations for the Education Hall of Fame. Nominees should be past district employees who made significant contributions to the improvement of the school system over a period of at least five years. Those contributions should still be well-known, and evident. Nominees, who must be retired from the
district for at least three years, may include teachers, support personnel (e.g. school nurse), administrators, or instructional aides. Each nomination requires the submission of at least two separate letters endorsing the person’s candidacy. Letters should focus on the ways the nominee made a special contribution to the district. Nomination letters should be at least one page in length, but may be longer. Nominations must be submitted by March 9. There will be no more than three individuals selected for membership in the Education Hall of Fame each year. Winners will be announced at a board of education meeting in April, and their pictures will be placed in the center hallway at the high school. Baseball association to meet The Midland Park Baseball Association will meet on Thursday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Midland Park Public Library, 250 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park. Yoga Night set Dr. Dawn Di Muro will offer a night of yoga for adults and teens at the DePhillips Center, 50 Dairy Street in Midland Park, on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. Attendees should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, large beach towel, and water bottle. Thrift shop holds sale The Community Thrift Shop, located at 85 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, will hold a half price sale on all merchandise on March 20, 21, and 22. Bag Sale Days will be March 23 and 24. By March 27, the shop will be restocked with spring clothing. For shoppers’ convenience, the store now stocks gift cards. Shoppers are welcome Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Mondays, the shop is open for receiving only. Donations are welcome. The shop’s resale of donated merchandise supports over 50 non-profit organizations such as church groups, children’s aid groups, and animal shelters. The donation was made as a result of the bank’s tithing program. Each year, Atlantic Stewardship Bank makes hundreds of donations, sending or hand delivering checks to food pantries, police and fire departments, missions and ministries, schools, libraries, and other deserving recipients. This year, the bank will share $398,000 with 288 deserving recipients. To date, the bank’s total tithe donations are $7.7 million.

Foundation hosts Blue Jean Ball The Midland Park Public Education Foundation will host its annual Blue Jean Ball on March 10. Tickets are $60 per person and include dinner, dancing, and entertainment by Connecticut-based Soul Daddy Band. This year’s event will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at Saint Leon’s Armenian Church, 12-61 Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn. The evening will feature an auction, a basket prize fundraiser, and a cash prize contest. All proceeds from the Blue Jean Ball benefit teacher-generated and districtwide grants to enhance the academic experience of children attending Midland Park’s public schools. March 25 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Midland Park Fire House Hall at 45 Witte Drive. The menu will include pancakes, bacon, sausages, juice, coffee, tea, and bagels. At the breakfast, the club will launch its Name the Guide Dog Puppy Drive II. This program is being held in conjunction with “The Seeing Eye” of Morristown. Input sought on extended hours The Midland Park Board of Recreation may extend the hours of its Summer Recreation Camp and is seeking input from interested families before making a decision.
