June 27, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 27 Franklin Lakes Scribe Library offers programs for children The Franklin Lakes Public Library, located at 470 DeKorte Drive in Franklin Lakes, will host two programs for children in July. Students in grades four and up are invited to Street Magic on Wednesday, July 25 at 2 p.m. Attendees will see a magic show and then learn a few tricks of their own. Registration will begin July 2. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin Lakes Library. On July 30, two sessions of “T-Shirts to Dye For,” will be held. Session 1, for children in grades four through six, will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Students in grades one through three are invited to attend the second session, which will be held from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. Attendees should bring a white cotton T-shirt. Registration will begin June 29. Registration for each program may be completed by phone at (201) 891-2224, or by visiting the library during regular library hours. ‘Movie Under the Stars’ set The Franklin Lakes Public Events Committee will host the borough’s first “Movie Under the Stars” on Thursday, July 19. (Rain date: July 20.) This free event will feature “Dolphin’s Tale,” a true story of a young boy who inspired a community to save a dolphin’s life. The movie stars Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, and Morgan Freeman. Seating will begin at 8 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Municipal Field on DeKorte Drive. The movie will begin at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, Lions Club Carnival coming to town The Lions Clubs from Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes will host a carnival at McBride Field in Franklin Lakes July 11 through 15. The event will feature rides, games, food, contests, and prizes. The presale of tickets for the amusements may be purchased at half-price through July 10 at the following locations: Cartridge World, 830 Franklin Avenue, Franklin Lakes; Columbia Bank, 60 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park; and Tons of Toys, 315 Franklin Avenue in Wyckoff. Carnival hours will be 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, July 11 and 12; 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 13; 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, July14; and 3 to 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15. McBride Field is located on Franklin Lake Road, across from the Market Basket in Franklin Lakes. All proceeds from the event will benefit these two local clubs. 7 p.m. “Bubble Trouble,” featuring Jeff Boyer, will include music and comedy. Registration for Franklin Lakes residents is under way.
