Board honors teachers, foundation members

McMahon The Franklin Lakes Board of Education recently recognized an honor received by one of the district’s elementary school teachers and paid tribute to several retiring teachers and outgoing members of the Franklin Lakes Education Foundation. The elementary school teacher, Alexandra Neithardt, was recognized by Superintendent Frank Romano for being named an Outstanding Star Teacher by the Bergen Record on the nomination of student Chris Cording. The youth wrote, “Thanks to Ms. Neithardt I would like to be an astronaut. It is truly an honor to have you as member of the Franklin Lakes Public Schools family and I wish you nothing but continued success.” The retirees honored at the meeting included Kenneth Schopp, a social studies teacher at Franklin Avenue Middle School who served the district from 1975 to 2012; Donald Rubinetti, a language arts teacher at Franklin Avenue Middle School who served from 1986 to 2012; Vivian Bordonaro, a world language teacher at Franklin (continued on page 21)
