Raimo, who reportedly asked to be reassigned, was recently appointed as the director of research, planning, and development in the Wyckoff K-8 district. His departure from the principal’s position at the Eisenhower School left the position vacant. Earlier this month, the board voted to formalize the search procedure for a replacement principal for the middle school. More than 45 resumes have already been received at the Wyckoff Board of Education office, and interviews will begin shortly. The new director of research served as assistant principal of the Eisenhower School for five years before taking over as principal two years ago. He received a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of the Holy Cross in 1985, a master’s degree in teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a master’s degree in educational administration from Teacher’s College of Columbia University in 2002. Raimo first taught English for five years at Northern Highlands High School. He served for two years as the vice principal of Fieldstone Middle School in Montvale, and then spent two years as vice principal of the Brookside School, the upper elementary school in Allendale’s K-8 system. A Wyckoff sanitation worker employed by the sanitation contractor was injured and rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center when a bottle of discarded limestone cleaning solution exploded as it was being crushed in the garbage truck on June 11. The 32-year-old man employed by Gaeta Recycling and Sanitation was throwing garbage from cans into a garbage truck when one of the bottles in the garbage exploded and sprayed the contents on his face and in his eyes as he was crushing it in the compactor. The man complained that he was having Sanitation worker injured as solvent bottle explodes difficulty breathing and he was treated at the scene and then taken to HUMC for further examination and treatment. The Wyckoff Police Department reported that one of the ingredients in the fluid is hydrochloric acid. Police Chief Benjamin Fox said the incident remains under investigation and that no charges had been made at press time. Chief Fox pointed out, however, that poisonous and caustic liquids should never be disposed of with garbage, but should be taken to the regular hazardous waste disposal events. J.
