He graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1953, earned a bachelor’s degree at Princeton University in 1957, and a master’s of pubic administration at Cornell University in 1963. After a 34-year career, he retired as senior vice president and director of municipal research at Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc. in 1997. He was named Analyst of the Year in 1993 by the National Federation of Municipal Analysts. He was a member of the West Side Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon, elder, and church treasurer. He served as treasurer of the Ridgewood Public Library Board, and was a member of the Half Century Club of Ridgewood, Hobbyists Unlimited, and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his wife Betsy S. Chamberlin of Ridgewood, his sons Bruce Chamberlin of Washington, DC and Rick Chamberlin of Cincinnati, Ohio, three grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was a 1938 graduate of Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York and a 1942 graduate of Cornell University, where she was lifelong member of the Tri-Delta Sorority and was selected to attend the Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute for Children and Family Development in Michigan. She had been a pre-school education teacher at West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood and at Grace United Methodist Church in Wyckoff. She had been a member of the Ski Club of New Jersey. She is survived by her daughter and son-inlaw, Patricia and Richard Haynes in Moretown, Vermont, grandchildren Patrick M. Haynes of Burlington Vermont and Thomas L. Council candidates (continued from page 6) Midland Park In Midland Park, Councilmen Bernard Holst Jr. and Scott Pruiksma garnered 294 and 289 votes, respectively, in their quest for reelection to the two council openings. Councilman Jack Considine, seeking to fill the oneyear unexpired term vacated by Mayor Patrick “Bud” O’Hagan, received 288 votes. Only 19 percent of the borough’s 1,873 registered Republican voters cast ballots. Of the 879 registered Democrats, 14 percent turned out at the polls. In the contest for the District 1 Republican committeewoman, Virginia Lizzandrella of Colonial Road received 59 votes over Emmy Eliya of Myrtle Avenue, who garnered 15 votes. Holst, who is president of Horizon Termite and Pest Control, a local company he founded in 1970, has been on the council since 1994. Pruiksma, a landscape contractor, was first appointed to the council in 2002. Considine, a retired IBM executive and US Navy veteran, was appointed to the governing body in January.
