July 18, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 5 Midland Park Midland Park’s Department of Public Works Foreman Rudy Gnehm was promoted to DPW superintendent last week after 22 years in the department. More than 25 family members and co-workers filed into the mayor and council meeting to witness the surprise ceremony at which he was honored with a resolution from the governing body praising him for his contributions to the community. “This is a very exciting honor, and it’s due to the crews working for me and their hard work, and due to the mayor and council backing me and giving me lots of support,” said Gnehm. “It’s a pleasure to work with the administrator (Addie Hanna) on a daily basis; she makes my job much easier,” he added. A lifelong Midland Park resident and graduate of Midland Park High School, Gnehm started working in the department as a laborer and mechanic, eventually becoming the foreman, “performing his Rudy Gnehm promoted to DPW superintendent multitude of duties with exemplary skills, a strong work ethic and complete knowledge of his responsibilities,” the resolution states. It also praises him for his “positive attitude of cooperation toward his fellow employees and in every task he has been given or has undertaken.” The resolution also commends Gnehm for performing his duties with “insight not only for current needs, but for future budgetary needs of each of the DPW’s divisions, which include buildings and grounds, parks, recycling, roads, sewers and vehicle maintenance. “Rudy’s high standards of excellence have not only made Midland Park a model community with well-kept municipal properties, but through his strength in leadership and expertise in his department, the borough has experienced untold savings over the years, helping the council keep our tax burden to a minimum,” the (continued on page 15) Mayor Patrick “Bud” O’Hagan, right, presents proclamation to newly-promoted DPW Superintendent Rudy Gnehm.
