‘The Marriage of Figaro’ to be performed The Next Stage Ensemble of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present “The Marriage of Figaro,” an adaptation of the play by Pierre Beaumarchais, on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The program will be held at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Public Library, 470 DeKorte Drive in Franklin Lakes. Tickets for this free program may be reserved at the adult reference desk. Call (201) 891-2224 for details. Children’s programs announced The Franklin Lakes Public Library, 470 DeKorte Drive, will host a variety of programs for children in July. Registration for the following programs is under way. On July 17, youngsters ages three through eight are invited to the library’s annual salute to fireflies. “Firefly Story Hunt” features seasonal stories and songs at 7:45 p.m. The outdoor hunt will begin at 8:15 p.m. Attendees are reminded to bring a container for their “catch.” Children are welcome to make a craft and an ice cream sundae at “Wednesday Sundae” on July 18. The program is open to children in kindergarten through grade three. Family fun is scheduled for July 24, when award-winning singer/songwriters Beth and Scott Bierko will perform silly, playful songs at their “Party Concert.” This program is suitable for all ages. Children in grades four through six are welcome to come to the library on Fridays, July 20 and 27 and Aug. 3 for a creative writing program. Participants will develop an original story. “Creative Juice” will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Students in grades four and up are invited to Street Magic on Wednesday, July 25 at 2 p.m. Attendees will see a magic show and then learn a few tricks of their own. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin Lakes Library. On July 30, two sessions of “T-Shirts to Dye For,” will be held. Session 1, for children in grades four through six, will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Students in grades one through three are invited to attend the second session, which will be held from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. Attendees should bring a white cotton T-shirt. Heavenly Treasures sale under way The 24th Heavenly Treasures Giant Garage Sale, which is being held at the Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes, will remain open through July 21. New and nearly new items are still available at this annual event. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Evening hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. The church is located at 730 Franklin Lake Road. Participants read any book they want, keep track of the number of pages read for the week on the reading log provided by the library, and visit the library once a week with the reading log to earn a weekly prize. Teens who write a one paragraph book review on any book they are currently reading may earn library bucks for each book review submitted. After conducting an investigation at the scene, it was determined that the occupants had burglarized the caller’s car, taking a pair of Coach sunglasses, and were in possession of a stolen laptop computer that was taken out of a car in Wyckoff. A warrant emanating out of Newark was also active for one of the individuals. Police arrested and charged a 20-year-old Newark man, a 22-year-old Wyckoff woman, a 30-year-old Belleville man, and a 28-year-old Newark man. The 20-year-old Newark resident and the Belleville man were both remanded to Bergen County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Both men were charged with burglary into a motor vehicle; possession of burglary tools, including a flashlight, gloves, and screwdriver; possession of drug paraphernalia; receiving stolen property; and theft of moveable property. The Wyckoff woman was released on her own recognizance. The 28-year-old Newark man was also remanded to Bergen County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. He faces the same charges as the others, but was also charged with providing false information to police to implicate another.
