Rendine earns Technologist of the Year award
Brian Rendine of Franklin Lakes, a six-year faculty member at Bergen Catholic High School, was named as the school’s fifth Technologist of the Year. Rendine, a member of the B.C. Class of 2001, earned his B.S. in biology at Montclair State University. He joined the school’s faculty in the fall of 2006 as a member of the science department, and has taught a variety of courses, including physics, earth science, astronomy, anatomy, and physiology. Rendine was honored for his exceptional efforts in the implementation of DyKnow Vision, a classroom management and interactive learning software program. “Brian has worked tirelessly to develop his skill set with DyKnow Vision, a program that allows students and teachers to share ideas electronically in a 1:1 classroom. It allows teachers to move away from a paper model and ‘push out’ interactive assignments to their students who can
complete or discuss online,” explained Assistant Principal of Student Affairs and Technology Joseph Haemmerle. “Brian’s experience with the program and propensity to share that experience has driven him to become a supportive mentor for faculty members who are following in his footsteps.” This educator’s contributions to the Bergen Catholic community are not limited to the classroom, as he has served as the school’s director of activities for the last five years. A former lacrosse player at B.C., Rendine joined the lacrosse staff as an assistant coach during his college days and contributed five years of service. In 2008, he started the lacrosse program at River Dell High School in Oradell, and has guided the Golden Hawks to three winning records in the varsity program’s first four seasons of existence.
