A 65-year-old Roseland man has been charged with engaging in the unlicensed practice of medicine and surgery in the Township of Wyckoff. Alan Lupinacci was arrested last week following an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, White Collar Crimes Squad, under the direction of Chief of Detectives Steven Cucciniello, in conjunction with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs, Enforcement Bureau, under the direction of Thomas R. Calcagni, Director of the Consumer Affairs Division, and Edward Tumminello, Chief of the Enforcement Bureau. When he announced the arrest, Prosecutor John L. Molinelli stated that the investigation revealed that in 1995, as a result of pleading guilty to 10 counts of criminal sexual contact with his female patients, Lupinacci had lost his license to practice medicine and surgery. Molinelli said the investigation also revealed that, in 2003, despite having

had his license revoked in 1995, Lupinacci again began to unlawfully engage in the practice of medicine and surgery at the Wyckoff Health Shoppe. As a result of those activities, a court order was issued which permanently restrained and enjoined Lupinacci from engaging in, or holding himself out as engaging in, the practice of medicine and surgery, to include but not limited to counseling patients/clients, in a nutritional counseling business, health shop, health care service or similar establishment and from using the title or description “doctor,” “M.D.,” “N.D.,” “Naturopathic Physician,” “Nutritional Doctor,” or any other title denoting licensure in any dealings with clients or the public in connection with any nutritional counseling business, health shop, health care service or similar establishment and from displaying any signs, diplomas, cards or other documents containing the title “M.D.,” “N.D.,” and/or “doctor” on the premises of a nutritional counseling business, health shop, health care service
or similar establishment. Despite the issuance of the abovementioned court order, the investigation also revealed that, beginning in January of 2010, and continuing through January of 2012, Lupinacci, who had assumed the alias, Dr. Alan Woods, was once again operating a nutritional counseling facility called The Institute for Natural Health and Wellness located at 541 (continued on page 20)
