Gorter to discuss eschatology The Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Avenue, will begin a new sermon series led by Pastor Rod Gorter titled, “The Bible and the End Times.” The series on eschatology, the study of the end times, will cover what the Bible says about the second coming of Christ, the rapture, the signs of the times, and more. Beefsteak benefit set The Midland Park High School Athletic Boosters will host its Third Annual Beefsteak Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Midland Park Firehouse at 45 Witte Drive. Music will be provided by the local band, “Nutz,” and DJ Gormley. Proceeds from the dinner benefit MPHS student-athletes. Register for Winter Story Time Registration for the Midland Park Public Library Story Time is under way in the children’s room. The following programs are available: Toddler Story Time on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. from Jan. 18 to Feb. 15, and Preschool Story Time on Thursdays at either 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Jan. 19 through Feb. 16. Story Times are developmentally appropriate and encourage children to interact with books and express their creativity through open-ended craft activities. Library board to meet The Midland Park Memorial Library Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the library located at 250 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Meetings are open to the public. Harlem Wizards to perform The Midland Park Basketball Association will host the Harlem Wizards Basketball Entertainment Team at Midland Park High School, 250 Prospect Street, on Jan. 15. Sal Lauretta for Men, an upscale men’s clothing store located in Midland Park, recently hosted the Robert Graham Trunk Show. Executives from Robert Graham were in attendance and customers were able to view the entire new collection. The trunk show introduced the new Tenth Anniversary X Collection by Robert Graham and the new Robert Graham Jeans. Sal Lauretta for Men is the very first store in the country to have these jeans for sale. Sal Lauretta for Men and Robert Graham also donated 10 percent of the sales for the day, $1,426, to Eva’s Village, a comprehensive non-profit social service organization dedicated to fighting homelessness and poverty, located in Paterson. We have a recreation program designed to address the needs of our citizens – of all ages,” he said, adding: “Can we do more? Yes, just come forward and state your requests. We will do our best to accommodate you.” To encourage that input and to make local government more available to the public, O’Hagan said he will initiate “coffee with the mayor” sessions on Saturday mornings beginning Jan. 21 and continuing on the third Saturday of the month thereafter. He said the 10 a.m. sessions will afford members of the public the ability to discuss their thoughts and concerns in a relaxed atmosphere without tape recorders. “This will not replace council meetings. It is just another way to allow you to reach out to the governing body. I need your attendance in order to make it work,” he told those present.
