Prior to retiring, he was an assistant cashier for the Prospect Park National Bank in Prospect Park. He was a member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church in North Haledon, where he served as a deacon, teacher, superintendent of the Sunday school, and member of the choir. He is survived by his wife Lois L. Aupperlee (nee Russell), his children Judith Elzinga of Marietta, Pennsylvania, Janice DeBoer of Wescosville, Pennsylvania, and Joyce Breur of Oakland, seven grandchildren, and nine greatgrandchildren. Angelina DeFino, nee Russo, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Wyckoff, died Feb. 6. She was 98. She is survived by her children Phyllis Ims of Wyckoff and Frank Defino of Franklin Lakes, five grandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar F. DeFino. An entrepreneur, he was the founder and developer of CBC National before retiring in 2006. He then owned and developed many Internet companies. He is survived by his wife Dr. Anna C. Pavlick of Franklin Lakes, his father O’Neil Ferraiolo of Florida, his sister Dr. Debra Ferraiolo of Oakland, his father- and mother-in-law Dr. and Mrs. Donald S. Pavlick, his brotherand sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Camille Baghdo, and two nieces. He was predeceased by his mother Rose (nee Ferrigno), and brother-in-law Dr. Donald S. Pavlick. He worked at Henry Brothers Electronics in Paramus, and then at his own company, Casey Associates. He also did work for RCC Consultants, BearCom, VISCOM Electronics at Kennedy Airport, Eventide, Mikab, and Honeywell in Boston. He was a ham radio operator (WA2CAI), and a licensed pilot. He was a first lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol. In 2004, he was awarded the Charles E. “Chuck” Yeager Aerospace Education Achievement Award. He joined New Jersey Search and Rescue, and was a member of the radio clubs FLARC and BARA. He is survived by Peter C. Aupperlee his wife Sandra Christina Schultze, his children Frederika and Jean-Luc Gilbert, his sisters Kathleen and Aileen, and two nephews. Charles W. Kraus of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Bogota, Franklin Lakes, and Mahwah, died Feb. 10. He was 96. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran of WWII. He graduated from Bogota High School in 1933 and later from the American Institute of Banking. He served on the Bogota Board of Education. At the age of 28, he became the youngest school board president in New Jersey. He was a member of the Bogota Borough Council and served as the Bogota Police Commissioner. He was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 1953, and held that post for 11 years. He was Bergen County Road Supervisor and director of public works from 1958-69. He was a Republican National Convention delegate in 1960 and 1964. He was New Jersey gubernatorial campaign manager for his boyhood friend, Walter Jones, the former head of the state Republican Party, in 1960. He was an instructor at the American Institute of Banking, the New Jersey Savings Institute of Education, and Dale Carnegie. He served on the board of directors at Bogota National Bank, Banker’s National Bank, Oakland State Bank, Elmwood State Bank, and Suburban Savings and Loan. In 1980, he was elected the first president of The Esplanade Condominium Association in Boca Raton, Florida. He held that position for 12 years and served on the board of directors for 27 years. He is survived by his daughters Peggy Ann Calitre of Ramsey, Barbara Katherine Vasell of Mount Laurel, and Susan M. Gallitano of Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Gannon Kraus. Malfalda Imbrogno, nee Tarantino, of Smithfield, Rhode Island, formerly of Midland Park, died Feb. 9. She was 85. She was a blanketeer for Project Linus, a national organization that provides handmade afghans for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need of love, security, and comfort. She was one of the original members of the Church of Nativity in Midland Park. She is survived by her sister Adeline Biggs of Smithfield, Rhode Island, her niece Debra Kline of Smithfield, Rhode Island, and two great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward. Carole Mason, nee Eshmont, of Midland Park, formerly of Ridgewood, died Feb. 9. She was 71. She had been the owner of Stonecroft Interior Design in Midland Park. She Charles W. Before retiring, she was a loom operator for Montabert Co. of Midland Park for many years. She was a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Olthuis Funeral Home in Midland Park. Edward J. Van Duzer of Wyckoff died Feb. 9. He was 70. He was a musician and an accordionist, who recorded and released the hit song “Big Mouth,” which was played across the region on radio stations. He was the leader of the Eddie Vann Trio. He was the owner and operator of Evan Transportation in Midland Park and Oakland, for many years. He was a member of the Pacemakers Car Club of Midland Park. He was a devoted member of the WyckoffMidland Park Rotary Club, and later the Oakland-Franklin Lakes Club. He was honored by Rotary International with a number of awards, including the Walter D. Head Foundation Award, and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the board of directors of West Bergen Mental Healthcare. He was an active member of the Old Paramus Reformed Church in Ridgewood, where he served as both a deacon and an elder, and was a member of the choir and the Music and Worship Committee. He was a member of the Holland Society of New York and the past president of the Old Bergen Branch. He is survived by his wife Carla (nee Brandt) Van Duzer of Wyckoff, his children Kimberly Chatzilias and Thomas Edward, two grandchildren, and his brother James of Wyckoff. Nancy Barr Vermylen of Saddle River and Shoreham, New York, died Feb. 11. She was 91. She was an alumna of The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York (1938) and Trinity College (now Trinity Washington University, 1942). She was a past president of the board of Cerebral Palsy Center of Bergen County, and volunteered for the Valley Hospital Auxiliary and at The Forum School in Waldwick. She was a parishioner of Saint Gabriel’s Church in Saddle River where she was a Eucharistic minister. She is survived by her husband Paul Anthony Vermylen, her children Paul Jr., Jay, Peter, David, Jessica Vermylen Fiddes, Robert, and Mark, 21 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
