Register for spring recreation programs The Wyckoff Recreation Department will hold registration for its spring programs on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Eisenhower Middle School cafeteria, located on Calvin Court. The spring schedule includes a co-ed T-ball program for boys and girls in kindergarten, a modified T-ball/baseball/ softball program for boys and girls in first grade, baseball for boys in grades two through eight, and softball for girls in grades two through eight. Boys in grades four through eight who will be playing recreation baseball will again be using wood bats. The fee for children in kindergarten and first grade is $55. For players in grades two through eight, the fee is $75. Cash and checks will be accepted. The recreation department does not accept credit cards. The spring baseball/softball season will begin with practices in late March or early April. Games for players in grades two through eight will begin April 21. Kindergarten T-ball will begin April 28. The first grade program will begin on April 24 for the girls, and on April 26 for the boys. The season is expected to end on June 9. The recreation department is seeking umpires for the spring program. Boys and girls in grade eight and up may sign up at registration dates on Feb. 11 and 15 or by e-mailing wyckoffrec@optonline.net. For more information, call (201) 891-3350 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Paddle Tournament rescheduled The Wyckoff Newcomers & Neighbors rescheduled the Fourth Annual Couples Lodge Night and Paddle Tournament to Saturday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brookside Racquet Club in Allendale. The club will provide racquets and balls; no prior paddle experience is necessary. Indoor games and activities planned for those who do not choose to play paddle. Pizza will be served. On Feb. 28, the club will host an Informational Coffee Hour on from 10 to 11 a.m. for new and current residents. This event will be held at the Franklin Lakes Library, 470

Dance-a-Thon benefit set The Wyckoff Y will host its Second Annual Dance-aThon on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Y located at 691 Wyckoff Avenue. The event will benefit the Strong Kids Campaign. Various classes will be held throughout the day, beginning with yoga at 9 a.m. The day’s dance schedule includes Dancing Feet for children ages three through six at 10 a.m., jazz for all ages at 11 a.m., ballroom at noon, tap at 1 p.m., willPower & Grace® at 2 p.m., and Zumba® at 3 p.m. Following the classes, the Y will feature a grand finale performance featuring Richie Arthur and “Fast Forward” in concert at 4 p.m. There is a $10 minimum donation for each one-hour class and this includes concert admission. Singles plan Potluck Dinner & Game Night Christian Singles of North Jersey will host a Potluck Dinner and Game Night on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church Barn, 530 Sicomac Avenue in Wyckoff. Attendees are asked to bring a favorite main dish, salad, soup, or appetizer to share (to feed approximately six people). Desserts, coffee, tea, soda, and snacks will be provided. Temple offers preschool programs The Andrew Friedland Preschool at Temple Beth Rishon has openings in its Mommy and Me and Kindergarten Enrichment programs. Babies under one year old and a parent are invited to attend a Mommy and Me class on Wednesdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. beginning Feb. 1. The class is free, but registration is required. On Feb. 7 and 8, a preview class of the temple’s extended day Enrichment Kindergarten program will be offered from
12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The program is designed for children attending a half-day public school kindergarten class. At the preview, parents will have an opportunity to meet the school’s principal and hear about the program and enrollment options available in the fall, while children spend time in a class. (continued from page 7) outstanding efforts as a league trustee and chairperson for the league’s annual Golf Outing. The event serves as a fundraiser for scholarships benefitting architecture students who reside in the league’s territory, which includes Bergen, Passaic, and Sussex counties. Vierheilig has served as chairperson for the event for over 10 years and served as the league’s president in 2008. The Architects League of Northern NJ is one of six sections of the NJ Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Vierheilig designs hospitality, educational, and sustainable building projects. In addition to design, review of construction documents, and construction administration of projects, she oversees project staffing and budgeting, and leads the firm’s marketing and business development strategies. She has served on the company’s Dashboard Committee, which analyzes the company’s budget and develops innovative solutions to streamline production and raise the level of quality delivered to clients. As an architect, some of her recent notable educational projects include renovations and additions for the Verona Board of Education, which included an $8 million upgrade to Verona High School and HB Whitehorne Middle School. This project was featured in the spring 2010 edition of Learning by Design and garnered an “Outstanding Project” award. The $21 million upgrade to Cresskill Middle School/High School, which includes a new athletic wing and cafeteria expansion, was featured in the fall 2011 edition of Learning by Design and received an award for “Outstanding Project Renovations and Adaptive Reuse.” Vierheilig and her husband Kurt are the parents of a son, Bradley.
