In order to mark this special birthday, the agency will host an Anniversary Gala at The Grove in Cedar Grove. Recently, members of the Anniversary Committee met to plan the upcoming event which will include dinner, dancing, a “mystery bag” event, a special auction, and the special presentation of nine honorees: JT and Bevin Bolger, West Milford; Cathy and Warren Cooke, Ridgewood; Brenda and Frank Gallagher, Ho-Ho-Kus; Barbara and Bob Stillwell, Wyckoff; and West Bergen’s Guardian Angel, David F. Bolger, Ridgewood. Since 1963, West Bergen has been providing quality counseling and therapy to individuals and families in need. For additional information on the Anniversary Gala,

Crane project helps ‘critters’
Grace, age 8, from Midland Park has been making and selling origami cranes for 25 cents each to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims. Her project is called ‘Cranes for Critters.’ The victims are the numerous pets that were lost, injured, or abandoned during and after the storm. Grace adopted Zelda from the Last Resort Rescue years ago and knows this organization has been working tirelessly to temporarily shelter and care for displaced animals. They are doing everything in their power to feed, care for, and reunite pets with their owners, but funds are often prohibitive. News of Grace’s project has reached as far as North Carolina and orders are still coming in. Friends and family have begun to help her keep up. To date, they have made over 400 cranes.
